Hi folks, first home theather setup, so learning as I go, got a new apartment and want to keep cables at a minimum, which comes to my in-ceiling question..

Bellow is the floor plant, in blue are the in-ceiling speakers, wondering if it' s worth keeping that way?

any sugestions is appreciated!

Yes those ceiling speakers are fine. However they are to be used for Dolby atmos and dts x.
What you need is two more speakers for surrounds around ear level. And your receiver only supports one pair of Atmos speakers. So 5.1.2 or 7.1

Have a read up on Dolby atmos guidelines to learn further.

Best regards!

To elaborate. In my book, it is absolutely fundamental that the audio for the image needs to come from the general direction of the image. I've seen plenty of comments that it's fine if audio comes from the ceiling if you aim the speakers toward the viewer. That really doesn't make any difference. The sound comes from where it comes from, regardless of what angle the speakers are aimed at.

Right. The angling of speakers from ceiling would only be trying the make the most/best of a poor solution/setup choice (to have them in the ceiling) and nowhere near how it should be done.

I wholeheartedly agree with John and Man. Electricians are generally good at electrical wiring, although I’ve met some who are dangerously bad at that too, but are very far from home theater experts. Movie audio, with the exception of Atmos and surround channels, should ALWAYS come from the direction of the image.

^To each his/her own of course, but definitely not recommendable for actually (objectively) best audio results (vs some other personally preferred compromises w/ criteria that don't prioritize audio fidelity first-and-foremost).
