I really need to decide on the mounting brackets for my Atmos and decide on if I am using Dolby locations or Auro locations for height speakers. I also need more speaker wire instead of slicing wire to move the front height closer to my listening position. After that my Pioneer Elite SC-05 receiver in my bedroom will ether get upgraded or I will put it off. And maybe I will get another pair of Klipsch speakers to upgrade from my entry level Polk bookshelf speakers in my bedroom. If not Klipsch I could go Bowers & Wilkins to go with my B&W center channel sitting in the box that I use to use in my main living room system.

Ordered the following on 4K Blu-ray

Children Of The Corn (4K Blu-ray)
The Warriors (4K Blu-ray PreOrder)
12 Monkeys (4K Blu-ray)

Looking at a library with 510 4K Blu-ray titles in it for 2023 as long as there shipped and arrive before end of year! Am looking forward to getting both Connan movies on 4K Blu-ray. Basically two weeks left in 2023 so good by 2023 hello 2024. Looking to get the Atmos speakers changed out and correctly located to get the proper immersive environment. And to achieve this I will need some good brackets.

Well just waiting for my last order to arrive and the only way I will order more movies before the new year is if I get an Amazon gift card for Christmas. Reflecting back on when my home theater had three different brands of speakers and that went across three different receivers. I am so happy that I finally have the closest match to the Altec A-7 speakers for the rest of the home theater. It took many years to get to where I am now so now the center, four rear speakers and four height speakers all match. Is there more expensive and better out there compared to what I have? Sure but I am very happy with what I got and I enjoy it very much so no complaints. Not sure if I can swing a Kalidascape system but I am not using a projector so I doubt I missing anything not having it currently. For streaming I am using a Apple 4K TV and that does good enough on my 55" OLED. Who knows what the future holds for any possible replacement of the Sony OLED and what size screen I might end up with. Movie library has grown alot over the past number of years since Blu-ray first came out. Sometimes it is to easy to focus on what you do not have vs what nice things you have already. And I would rather love what I have which is very nice and enjoy it as well.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hope to get around to see both of the following movies sometime soon!

  • Oppenheimer
  • Killers of the Flower Moon
It may be silly but I have no plans to watch the new Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom because I simply will not pay to see a movie with Amber Heard. And this goes for any other movie with Amber Heard. I realize that anyone else who makes a percentage off the ticket sales can be effected if a movie does poorly because people did not see it. But IMHO Amber Heard doesn't deserve my support even though it amounts to very little going her way. It is the principle behind it and what a terrible person she is and what she did to Johnny Depp.

Training Day 4K Blu-ray

Purchased Training Day and to my surprise it arrived in a standard bluray case with 4K slip cover! I originally returned it and reordered it only to find it arrived the same way. So after I thought about it I ordered a 2nd copy and left it shrink wrapped!

Hoping this mess up in packaging will make this worth something later on. If not it is what it is.

Researching speaker mounting brackets for my height channels and also researching Dolby and Auro speaker placement to decide which speaker layout my room will end up with.

This is the Dolby placement chart

This is the Auro placement chart
Auro 3D 11 channel.jpg

With my room these are about what the estimated layouts would look like.

Auro 3D

This is what the Auro placement would look like for the right surround bed layer and height layer.

Living in a relatives house so I am lucky I have a system this size taking up the living room. If this was my place the sofa would be in a different location and maybe no chairs. It is a delicate balancing act to not get push back on what I am trying to accomplish. But ultimately I need to get my own place which will consume a good percentage of my income living in California. Also need to figure out additional media storage as I am sure I will be out of space way before then end of 2024! Not much room left!

I may just end up getting the following from Precision Triad Orbit

Triad Speaker Mount.jpg

They are expensive but I feel they may just be the best quality bracket with great adjustability. I am leaning towards placing the height speakers in the recommended Auro placement. After dealing with putting up the Klipsch RP-600M speakers and setting levels. I need to start thinking about additional media storage as I do not have much space left.

Something I will put alot of thought into is if I will move up to a preamp processor or update my Marantz SR-8012 to a Marantz Cinema 40. If I do that the 8012 would replace the Pioneer Elite SC-05 in my bedroom. If I leave the SR-8012 where it is and put a replacement on hold I might look at a projector. The main thing that scares me about getting a projector is not knowing if I will be able to use it later when I end up having to move into an apartment. I feel it is the best way to go large screen above what I could afford in a display. If I do not do ether one maybe I should look into a Control 4 set up?

Looking at the following to add media storage:

Modern Shelving

Library Ending 12/31/2023
DVD 64
Bluray 222
4K bluray 510

First order of 2024 has five 4K Blu-rays and six Blu-ray titles arriving this week!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
