“MY FAIR LADY” IS NEWLY RESTORED

ACADEMY AWARD®-WINNING “MY FAIR LADY” IS NEWLY RESTORED
FOR THEATRICAL RE-RELEASE AND SPECIAL BLU-RAY™/DVD

Audrey Hepburn/Rex Harrison Starrer Hits Select U.S. Cinemas Beginning October 18

New York, Los Angeles, September 18, 2015…Iconic American film “My Fair Lady,” starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison and directed by George Cukor, has emerged from a $1 million restoration process in time for a limited theatrical re-release with more than 800 screenings nationwide beginning October 18.

CBS Home Entertainment and BY Experience have joined together to bring the Academy Award-winning film back to cinema screens for a new generation of ‘Eliza Doolittle’ fans to experience. Tickets for “My Fair Lady” are available now at participating theater box offices and online at www.MyFairLady50.com.

The limited theatrical engagement will be followed by the release of the film on Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack “My Fair Lady: 50th Anniversary Edition” from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution, available October 27.

“My Fair Lady” won a staggering eight Academy Awards® in 1964, including Best Picture. Fifty years after its original release, audiences are still enchanted by the musical that follows elitist linguistic professor Henry Higgins (Harrison) as he makes a wager with his colleague that he can turn sassy, cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Hepburn) into the toast of English society. The film remains one of the most celebrated movie musicals in film history, and includes such timeless songs as “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night” and “Get Me to the Church on Time.”

Acclaimed film historian and preservationist Robert A. Harris painstakingly restored the film to its original beauty. The 4K restoration comes from an 8K scan of the original negative and other surviving 65mm elements. Harris has previously restored such film classics as “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Spartacus,” “Vertigo,” “Rear Window” and “The Godfather.”

“‘My Fair Lady’ is one of the crown jewels in our library,” said Ken Ross, executive vice president and general manager, CBS Home Entertainment. “And now this timeless masterpiece will be presented to a new generation of fans in a quality never before seen or heard.”

“Movie musicals are such an important part of Hollywood and motion picture history, and certainly ‘My Fair Lady’ is one of the most highly regarded by critics and fans,” said Julie Borchard-Young, co-president of BY Experience. “We are thrilled to work with CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution to bring ‘My Fair Lady’ back to cinema screens across the country for all ages to enjoy.”

“My Fair Lady: 50th Anniversary Edition” Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack comes in collectible packaging with an entire Blu-ray disc dedicated to 90 minutes of special features including a variety of original trailers and featurettes that were used in theaters to promote the feature film, as well as footage from the film’s Los Angeles and British premieres in 1964. The collection is rated G and will be available for the suggested retail price of $42.99.

This sounds official, so the delivery dates of early October from Amazon must be wrong. Already have my ticket to see the 4K presentation of the film locally.

Hi Jim!

Amazon.com still hasn't changed my October 9, 2015 delivery date to reflect the accurate October 27 release date (Though Amazon Canada has!), but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they do! Their main page for MFL50 also still shows "currently unavailable."

AFAIC, if Ron Epstein says it's official, then it is official, regardless of what Amazon has, or hasn't listed, if that makes any sense!

MyFairLady50.com's Home Page also now indicates the Oct. 27 release date for this long awaited Blu-ray/DVD combo, complete with beautiful restoration by HTF's own Robert Harris!

CHEERS! :)

At least I know now that I should have the blu ray by early November. Like everyone else here, I have awaited this release for over a year. I was so excited about this time last year reading an article about the restoration in AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHER and thinking the blu ray was coming soon. MY FAIR LADY has been served so poorly on dvd and blu ray, it will be great to finally have it in a good format.

Let's hear it for delayed gratification!

I contacted both venues where this will be playing locally. One said they were doing it in 2K... indeed "2K" was the entire text of their response.

The other venue sent me a long and nice e-mail saying they were showing the film in 4K ---- they really seemed proud to be showing the film and its best format. Wish there were more exhibitors like this.

So I would say, contact the venue.

This is *terrific* news!!

I've had my Amazon preorder in for this title since before Christmas of last year.
