Cool thanks. I'll never watch 2 again. I didn't care for that one at all. 3 was decent and I loved 4. I have the ce DVD of the first film and have put off upgrading. The ticket thing is tempting though.

I wasn't planning on buying them but my girlfriend wanted to watch them all before the new one came out, and I realized it was about the same cost to rent each of them on Vudu or iTunes as it was to just buy that set, so that's how I wound up with it. I'm not a huge fan of the second one either. I actually think too many of the movies have the same plot - Ethan Hunt is wrongly accused of being a mole or traitor and must work with a small team outside of the IMF to stop the bad guy, all while the IMF is pursuing him as being the bad guy - that happens in the first, third and fourth movie, and looks like it'll be happening in this new one too. I wish they'd find a different plot point.

Kind of like bond always being rogue in every film since 2002?

Yeah, which also gets a little annoying. My bigger gripe with current Bond plotting is how they wanted to reboot the character, and I was totally on board with that. In "Casino Royale" throughout the movie, both Bond and the audience are told how young he is, how inexperienced he is, how he's not ready to be a double-0 secret agent, etc., and we slowly see him mature over the movie into a version of a recognizable Bond, and finally as the movie ends, you think he's finally the guy we know. Then "Quantum Of Solace" starts right where "Casino" left off and so much of that again rehashes the point that Bond is too young, too immature, not ready, etc. I was still down with this, it made sense in the context of the film. But then "Skyfall" starts and we're immediately told that Bond is too old, past his prime, and all of that, and it just has me wondering - at what point in this reboot of the series does Bond just get to be Bond? I liked a lot of "Skyfall" but I found that really jarring, after two movies of being hit over the head with "he's too young, he's too immature, he's not ready" to go without any sort of transition period into "he's too old, past his prime, no shame in retiring".

I agree. Based on the trailers I am wondering if he will again be rogue.
I guess mi6 doesn't work as well as it once did.

Sorry for derailing the mission impossible thread.

I do enjoy how mission impossible uses a different direction each time.

As I said waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2006, it wasn't until M:I-III that the movies started to get the tone of the show right. M:I-I has the whole "Everybody's an asshole and Phelps is a traitor" baloney problem and M:I-2 is just irreproachably awful. M:I-III is the start of the REAL Mission:Impossible film franchise.

I agree, I loved M:I-III. That's what really got me into this series.

MI-3 is probably my favorite too Sean. For one I LOVED what JJ Abrams did. And Philip Seymour Hoffman was fantastic. Just about everything in that film worked.

I still love the original one from 1996. Was my first real taste of BIG movie screens. Saw it at the brand new Galaxy Theater in Dallas TX. Largest screen in Texas. Was awesome and just out of this world THX audio.

Nobody even mentioned the awesomeness of suddenly hearing Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love in that trailer, so I will, that was awesome, and unexpected.

Need to go back and rewatch the earlier movies in preparation for this one.

The 4 disc set of the first 4 films is $24 at Costco with an $8 voucher to see the new film in theaters.
Amazon has he set for $21 but I don't see any info about the ticket for rogue.
Best buy had the films individually on sale for $9.99 with the free ticket as well but I don't know if that price is still valid.

Currently at 97% at rotten tomatoes with 30 reviews counted. I'm guessing that this will remain at 85%+ since 30 reviews is a decent representation. Planning to see this Thursday in IMAX.

Individual titles are at $11ish on Amazon, target and best buy.
Amazon is doing the $8 voucher on the 4 film set only.
Target and best buy have them on the individual titles. Not sure on the set.
Wal mArt has a $5 voucher on part 1 but not the others.

For blu Ray was this the second time paramount has reissued the blu Rays of 1-3?
I wonder if new transfers with HD audio end up coming on uhd bd?
Hoping the same is true with Star Trek too.
