Hello,
Yesterday I purchased a set of Eltax Monitor ATM Atmos speakers, which are positioned on the front speakers.
The ATM's are connected to a Yamaha RX-V581 AV Amp.
The sound from the speakers, are very faint and offer no real, noticable change in the sound field.
The AV amp is set to presence speakers ,Dolby enabled .
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

First, you need to make certain you get the levels matched by running an auto or manual speaker calibration.

But... yeah... don't expect a world of difference.

Hello, thank you for the help.

i used the Yamaha calibration mic originally, to set the speakers. They still required manual adjustments after

I was hoping to hear a difference, even the slightest improvement would been a start lol

As John alluded to, don’t expect a huge sound difference with that kind of setup. In my last HT, I was using Atmos bounce speakers like you. They sat on top of my front left and right mains and bounced sound off my rather steeply angled ceiling. It wasn’t great Atmos but it was noticeable and did open the sound field quite a bit.

Thank you , I think maybe a new AV receiver is needed . I’ve owned the Yamaha for over 7 years lol

I have been looking at replacement AV receivers,my budget is £600.
A Denon AV receiver -AVR X2800H has received many positive reviews. May I ask your opinion of this possible receiver ?
Thank you ,and Happy New Year

What speakers are in the rest of the system? That could be a better place to start.

I was hoping a newer receiver would deliver a better sound field . Technology advances so quickly these days .
To achieve the required sound , what price range should I be considering?
Thank you

Would you describe how the system is laid out? First thing is to see if improvements can be made with what you have.

Is it possible to place the surround speakers further away, at or on side walls, aimed at the viewer, instead of so close and aimed forward? I'd say that's your first place to start to improve immersion.

Hiya John,
yes, I can certainly place the front speakers closer to the wall ,aimed towards the viewing position.
Im currently in work until Thursday evening, will do the above Friday and post an image.
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Not the front speakers. The side surround speakers.

That will be difficult. The right speaker is by the door ,it’s in the only position which allows the door to open/access to the room
