I saw it in 3-D and in my opinion, the 3-D was very, very subdued. A fair amount of the movie is set in a forest so they could have really had some depth (a la the jungle in The Jungle Book) but they chose not to do that.

Didn't know this was a remake. Was planning to take the kids soon. Seems like a reasonable family flick?
With the caveat that I don't have kids, I would think so. It might be a little slow for younger kids since it's a smaller movie but I would think the dragon and nice story would keep most people's attention for the 100 or so minutes.
