Hello,

I had a Samsung HT-WS1 sound bar that I was pleased with for many years, but it recently died and I am looking for a replacement.

So far I have tried two new sound bars but they both have the same problem. At times the dialog becomes inaudible.

One example is when I watch historical documentaries. They may have the sound of an airplane in the background as a sound effect and a person providing an interview. Well the background effect of the airplane nearly drowns out the voice from the interview.

I have read the manual and tried to configure dialog mode but it doesn't seem to help.

Let me know if there is a simple setting I am missing or what feature I need to be shopping for in my next sound bar?

I only looked at the second link, but the product page states there is a "dedicated center" with "dialog eq". Try turning up the center channel or messing with various EQ. I tried to look at the manual but the Vizio site isn't working for that.

Here's a reddit thread. People said updating the firmware to 1.1.0.7 made a huge difference with dialog.

If there's a setting somewhere that gives supposedly emphasized "surround" effects, turn it off. Those enhanced surorround settings will give greater presence to the left and right and surround effects and leave the center channel dialog unaffected. Turn it off for purer sound.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been working on that. The manual doesn't actually explain them that well, and it doesn't explain how the settings work in tandem at all. (moving setting X to zero, move setting Y to 5, move setting Z to 10)
