But until he does, one of the passengers (Sandra Bullock) must keep the bus speeding through the streets of Los Angeles at more than 50 miles per hour – or the bomb will explode. Am I reading the audio specs correctly, that the physical discs will have 5.1 DTS-HDMA while the 4K digital streaming version will be Atmos?

If so, that's a bit of a disturbing item. Are the studios really going to start crippling the soundtracks on physical media? I would prefer that the original soundtrack be available, but if they're going to create a new Atmos track, then offer that as an option as well.

Yep, so far I don't see any reason to upgrade from the current blu-ray.

We're lucky to have a pre-2000s live-action film released at all -

This is originally a FOX film ....

The original blu-ray release ...

Disney picked over what they wanted from Fox's library this is one of Fox's big cash cow titles, so obviously they're going to take it along with the other cash cow titles as well.

No HDR....what is the point in an upgrade?
It has HDR.
The Speed 4K Ultra HD disc will indeed have high dynamic range in HDR10 format.

It has HDR.

I'm disappointed with the audio, particularly, the digital only having 5.1 DD.

I'm glad to hear this has HDR. That press release bungled some critical details.

No Atmos and only DD 5.1 for the streaming copy? Disney - pushing the technology envelope to the utmost and leading the pack, once again.

This movie won Oscars for Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Sound. I'm delighted that original mix is being presented.

I saw this in 4K in 2019 at Fox and it was terrific. I'm sure this disc will be wonderful.

I’m not ashamed to say this is my favorite action film of all time. Yeah, it’s even better than Die Hard. Will definitely pick this up. Too bad they aren’t including the sequel as they’ve consistently put them out together over the years. Yeah, it’s kind of not great, but it’s a guilty pleasure in my book and I like giving it a watch from time to time. I’m a bit nostalgic to Speed 2 as I remember going to see it in the theater on the first day of summer break that year. That was a great day.

I’ll probably get the steel book as that’s a pretty awesome design. Is it safe to assume it’ll have that glossy-like finish to the case that I’ve come across lately? Over the years I’ve generally avoided steel books and I have very few in my collection because they are so prone to dings and flaking, but I randomly bought the Alien 4K steel book a while back, only because I found it at BestBuy for real cheap and it was all they had, but when I unwrapped it at home, I was amazed to see had a super glossy and durable quality to it. I also got the Beauty and the Beast 4K steel book and it was the same. I wouldn’t mind adding more steel books to my collection if they were always such quality.

Unfortunately the Back to the Future trilogy steel books were the typical fragile ones, but I’ll just avoid Universal’s steel books in that case.

"Speed 2" made me sick - literally. I got nausea from the camerawork!

That might be the first movie I can remember where I became impacted by motion sickness - or at least the 1st standard feature film.

I remember seeing a travelogue documentary on an IMAX-like screen circa late 80s that made me googly in the moogly, but I don't think I had any issues with "regular movies" until "Speed 2"...

Never bought it on Blu-ray but the DTS on the 2-disc DVD was terrific.
