This was our 1st test of a borrowed BR disc on a borrowed PS3.

Note that we are/were an exclusive HD DVD retailer.

The quick loading was nice.
Setup was done.

The common BR trailer played then into the movie menu which I guess is consistent with the DVD one, which I guess makes sense but not as exciting as having a different one like HD DVD counterparts.

Now the Philips 1080p screen is not perfect and really showed a lot of grain and poor contrast. We switched over to the 720p Sharp which looked great.

Then watched full movie on the Panasonic 720p projector with optical 5.1.

Sound was great. Picture was good. Movie was great until the end.
Will compare with DVD later on.

I did notice the BR has the PIP, while the DVD has the Blood episode.
Why wouldn't the BR include the Blood episode?

Overall, impressive but not as exciting for us. Perhaps with some POSSIBLE other titles we MAY pick up, impressions may improve.

Trying to navigate with a controller was a nightmare, lol.

ps. the movie was shot in New Zealand with a lot of local actors.

Business-wise, as one of our regular customers mentioned - not any time soon. But things can change. We'll wait and see.

The Sony Blu-Ray remote for the PS3 is a MUST if you are using the PS3 as a primary Blu-Ray player. I would go nuts without it - it's well designed and built, too.

I got used to the controller as the remote for the PS3 after many months of use, but I got the Blu-ray remote for Christmas, and now I'm spoiled.

Business-wise? Things can change? Wait and see what? You lost me.. ;)

PS3 (edit) REMOTE is just great (perhaps the best I´ve seen so far) and cost around 20$. Get it.

Whether OUR customers embrace BR or NOT.

Sorry, I much prefer the 360 controller, even for movie playback.

Never mind mate. You're unaware that I run a video store (the admins removed the links after 2 years).

You referred to the PS3 controller, which I earlier inferred that the REMOTE would have been preferred.

A la LOST IN TRANSLATION.

The DVD is quite soft in comparison, but has the extra bonus content.

Business, as in our customer base can't afford BR players currently nor is the region coding results/releases consistent.

Lower prices and 2.0 should help.
We're also 360 exclusive, but will test the PS3 waters from next week.
