I guess we are in real trouble with this title.
The USAToday poll in the entertainment section asks, "Which movie are you most excited to see this year?"
Quantum of Solace got 2% of the votes, less even than Mamma Mia and The Chronicals of Narnia.

Not too surprising considering that they don't mention it's a Bond movie. 99% of the general public isn't going to even know the title yet. Mamma Mia has a lot more name recognition from the stage show and Chronicles of Narnia is obviously a well known name. I imagine that the percentage of vote Narnia received would be less if it had simply said "Prince Caspian".

I think QUANTUM OF SOLACE is an excellent title because it evokes something unusual, in keeping with the fresh restart with CASINO ROYALE. It somehow also kind of reminds me of '60s thrillers like THE QUILLER MEMORANDUM and IPCRESS FILE. Anyway, it's downright poetic compared to brain dead, boring titles like TOMORROW NEVER DIES.

I like the title, but they are definitely trying to keep the Fleming connection. Even Goldeneye was the name of Fleming's private resort.

My thoughts exactly. Such a storyline isn't exactly original based on what else is coming out of Hollywood these days (Syriana being one such example).

As much as I liked the pop art posters of the early 60s, that's pretty cool.

It's not who the actors are, but the writing they're given to work with. Juggle the actors and the scripts and Moore or Dalton could just as easily exchange this same dialog with Dench.

You make a very good point with regard to M's relationship with Bond. We've listened to her ragging escalate over the course of five films now, and it's time to lower the pitch. My wish is that M's civility and respect toward Bond will be restored in QUANTUM OF SOLACE. The earliest reports on this film sound very promising.

I tried to resist the spoiler, but I caved. :D

Cool, if true.

Can a mod change the title of the thread to Quantum of Solace (Bond 22) or something like that? Thanks.
