Just watched the 10/24 episode and wow, it was EPIC. I've been somewhat lukewarm about this show so far, but this episode really made me a believer in it. I'm fully engaged now and anxious to see how the second half of the season plays out.

So, was Jimmy totally wrong and his wife was only sleeping with the photographer's wife, or was she sleeping with them both? I was under the impression the kid was the photog's son, but I guess I was just getting that from Jimmy.

I really like the sniper. I wonder if we'll be seeing him again, or if he's going to clear out after icing Liam. I hope he doesn't get dragged too deep into the underworld.

Before Nucky burned down the house, was there any dialogue indicating he had wanted to do that since he was a kid? I know I watched a show recently where someone said they had long wanted to burn down a particular building, but I didn't think it was this one. I went back and watched a couple of scenes, but by then I was getting too tired to keep rewatching.

Nice to see Michael Badalucco working with Buscemi again. They were in Miller's Crossing 20 years ago.

There may have been a warning about Nucky's arson job, if so I missed it. But, well aware that he was trying to exorcise daddy's spirit from the place, I wasn't a bit surprised at his reaction to the unwelcome tour his brother gave.

And then there was that ten grand after all!

Which would of course buy a MUCH nicer house.

The entire arc with the sniper was terrific. I'm really enjoying the exploration of themes otherwise non-standard to the genre; the entire PTSD/shell shock/American hero subject is quite interesting. I also like how the show is exploring the "other sides" to the cliche mobster mistress. A very mature show, and I don't simply mean the violence, language, and nudity.

That's my larger point.

Yes that Lysol douche method cannot be healthy! Wow! But, I'm sure it was meant as an attempt at birth control as the episode's title was "Family Limitation" and that was the brochure that was given to the Widow by Mrs. McGarry in which she learned this method.

This was another stellar week. Loved the
stories concerning Nucky's father and the house

as well as the masked sniper.

This is a show I very much look forward to

watching week after week.

They double got me on Jimmy's money. When Van Alden opened the drawer at the end, I thought, "Why didn't it occur to me that he would use that money for his wife's operation?" And then, when they faked us by jumping from Rose opening the letter to Jimmy's wife removing the contents of her letter, I thought, "Oh, he's incorruptible after all!"

Haven't commented here, but really enjoying the show. Probably my favorite on TV right now. Usually annoyed each week when it ends.

Spoken like someone who doesn't watch Terriers.

I can't wait until Harrow hits the AC. He's the breakout character for me thus far. Margaret Schroeder is becoming quite ruthless. This show may be playing that kind of trick card a little too often, though. "The money is for his wife! No! The dress is for Nan Britton! No!"

At first I thought he recognized Lucy as Nucky's ex-GF, but apparently it's just the beginning of a slide.

I thought that I was much more interested in the Chicago subplot at the beginning of the season because it was more traditionally gangsterish, but I now realize it's because of Michael Pitt. His return to AC has really picked up the show for me. I had toyed with the notion of dropping the show a few weeks ago, but the past two shows have been rocking. The previous episode was the first one that left me hungry for the next episode, and true to form, last night's was the first one I actually watched as it aired.

He knows. They showed him looking at her on the magazine cover. I think he's just trying a different approach with her, since the one with Margaret seemed to fail so spectacularly (though, it planted a seed of doubt in her). Become her rebound and gain her confidence, and then let her vent her spleen about Nucky.

A very good episode, one of the best so far. Some great scenes like the BatMitzvah conversation with Capone, the beating, and scene in the barn.

The Van Alden scene at the end kind of had me going "huh?" - But I have a feeling some of these characters arent going to be sticking around from season to season, and he may be one of them. He was shown to be completely out of control this episode and his spiral downward took a real leap foward.

Im not sure McDonalds Schroeder is gonna stick around.

Considering you stuck with AI through crap and super-crap (and to be fair, others only stuck with it for your weekly commentary), I'm surprised you would even consider dropping Boardwalk after only a few episodes :)

AI was maddening and at times gut wrenchingly bad, but it was like watching a season of your favorite team stinking up the joint. Sort of like being a Detroit Lions fan circa 2009. But over the years I had built up some loyalty to the franchise.

Boardwalk Empire's most compelling attraction for much of its run has been the nudity. But it's gotten much better now.

I don't think even nudity would help AI at this point. Well... maybe a little.

I am certainly not a prude. I certainly enjoy the nudity that is shown. However,

you can't help but feel that they are going overboard on featuring it just for the

sake of retaining viewers. It's almost as if Boardwalk Empire has become soft porn.

I am also questioning how factual this show is and how many liberties they are taking?

My concern is with Nelson. He never looked like the kind of federal official that would

walk into a speakeasy and take drinks of whisky. Then again, his character has been

shown to be a man who has been constantly struggling with his morals. I really should

do some research on him to find out just how immoral he was.

The show has been peaking lately and I am immensely enjoying it. Happy to see that

it will be returning next season.
