Woo, I am going to my first Anime Club meeting this weekend!

I got some quite detailed directions from one of the members so I know where I am going :)

I don't know what to expect... :D

If it's anything like the first time I went to my anime club (JACO), expect to find people that will at the same time scare the hell out of you and remind you of yourself ;)

But really, people at anime clubs are the nicest around... have a nice time. What's the name of your club anyways?

I'm in another club (Orange Anime [www.orangeanime.com) that I frequent more. More than watch anime, we go to cons, to the movies, and generally hang out together. ;)

The bastards have talked me into going to Anime Express the weekend, but I have no money budgeted to spend there :cries:

Gotta love the Osaka ;)

I got a couple more disks finished off last night. I rewatched Martian Successor Nadesico vol. 4, which has some interesting plot twists. I also finished up Someday's Dreamers with volume three. Oh boy...this is one of those series that starts out good, and just keeps getting better. The last couple of episodes were just great, and it wrapped up the story very well. I'm going to have to give this one an 'A'. Very highly recommended.

Tony can say that "Ryouko is not that hot" only because if he has ever seen the Tenchi OVAs it has only been in the edited, dubbed Cartoon Network version. This only confirms my statement that illustration is just illustration, it's voice acting and characterization which make the difference. Believe you me, Oh Frozen One, no matter how cold you are Orikasa Ai's throaty purr will warm you right back up :D . Also why I liked the original Bubblegum Crisis better than the sequels -- Oomori Kinuko just floats my boat, and the character of Priss is very nice.

Ya know, I was thinking the other day... does anyone know what happened to Joe_C? He was so active in this thread (even started the threads up to III or so) and just POOF, gone. His last post was over a year ago on January 21st, 2003 and his website, www.digitalhoard.com (which his mother thought, at first, was a porn site, IIRC ;) ) has been eradicated.

Weird. Hope the guy is okay! But this is the internet, so we may never know.

rob, i wondered the same thing. if anyone recalls, he "won" my free gift subscription to sound and vision mag last year sometime.

when i recently renewed, it asked if i wanted to include him again. since i hadn't seen him around, i figured something was up ... and ended up giving the free subscription to someone else. :b

hope he's okay.

Yeah, Orikasa Ai's voice just has that certain...something :). I did happen to catch the dub version of Tenchi Universe while flipping through the channels a couple of weeks ago (on the International Channel), and boy, did my ears hurt :frowning:.

I much prefer BGC 2040 over the original, partly because of the characters' voices. YMMV :).

Ooh ooh I missed out on listing my complete series. So here we go. No dates or anything, because there's not a whole lot. :) I only really had the money to start buying anime at the beginning of last year... although I used to buy VHS tapes now and then back in the mid to late 90s but I'm only counting DVDs here.

Chobits
Crest of the Stars
Dirty Pair Flash
Fruits Basket
Nightwalker
Oh My Goddess!
Pretear (well the last vol shipped, it should be here anyday now)
Sakura Diaries
Slayers Try
Sorcerer Hunters (the OVA too)
Steel Angel Kurumi (including 5th disc)
Those Who Hunt Elves I
Those Who Hunt Elves II

I just bought Galaxy Angel thanks to some earlier posts about it. I hope its good. Jumped the gun and got the box too because I'm still kicking myself for not getting Kiddy Grade or Pretear with their boxes. Oh well. I wonder if FUNimation is going to offer boxes for Fruits Basket in the future for those of us that went ahead and bought it? (trust me its worth it, man I love that!)

Well, when I started buying DVDs, I had one series (Record of Lodoss War) and one movie (Ghost in the Shell) in my anime collection :). In another four years or so, you may get to 700 DVDs, too :D.

At MegaCon, the rep for Funimation mentioned that he wanted to do something special for Fruits Basket... as in note quite a box.

He mentioned using a real basket with plastic fruit

Uh, Rob, that new sig is officially freaky.

Wow. I would buy that. Now if only they could include some real fruit, but they need to find a way to keep it fresh in my local Best Buy. Could this be the first DVD box set that needs to be plugged into an electrical socket?! ;)
