i found a receiver that I want to buy, but it is 6.1 channel and i only have 5 speakers and no room for a 6th one. i was wondering if it is ok to use it like that. I read a review on it that makes it seem like this is possible. " The major selling point for me was 6 channels of digital sound BUT dual binding posts for '2' rear surrounds. The receiver was built to wire 2 rear surrounds in series internally and safely, instead of having to do a tricky wiring job yourself (and also not worry about ohmage problems)". it is a Pioneer Surround Sound Receiver (VSX-D814K)

In the speaker config, you just turn off the rear center function and you will basically have a 5.1 receiver. All 6.1/7.1 receivers are backwards compatible.
