I haven't much of value to trade, but if someone has this 3D Blu-ray and is wlling to sell, please name your price. I don't even care about the packaging...just the disc. Thanks.
I'd like to kick off a thread listing some of the great jazz scores (as opposed to pop, rock or orchestral scores) in movies. A few of my faves:
SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS (Elmer Bernstein)
ANATOMY OF A MURDER (Duke Ellington)
IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (Quincy Jones)
I WANT TO LIVE! (Johnny Mandel)...
I'd enjoy compiling a list of such films. Off the top of my head are:
THE CHINA SYNDROME (following opening song)
THE BIRDS
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
ROPE (following opening credits music)
ORDINARY PEOPLE (following a brief classical piece during credits)
Would anyone care to add?
And let's not forget that the 3-disc laser disc box from 1991 listed for $124 and streeted for about $100, and that with a fraction of the image quality and almost none of the special features in the 4K Blu set. $100 in 1991 = roughly $225 now. Doncha think the 4K is a actually pretty good value?
I don't know about others here, but I am retired and just haven't the funds to buy these ridiculously expensive sets to acquire just one or two movies I want. And, of course, it's an Oscar-winner.
Having issued the 15-disc GODZILLA set, I am assuming (perhaps erroneously) that you also have access to the best non-Godzilla film (in its original Japanese language form), RODAN. If so, might we please have a Blu-ray or both Japanese and American versions, as you did with GOZILLA?
Many thanks...
Does anyone have or has anyone seen this to tell me if it is another in the long string of Technicolor/color Blu-ray's from Fox to completely mess it up with that teal crap (sorry, Bruce)? The trailer on the IMDB site looks like they may have...the supposedly white shirts are all blue! This...
I've been around this forum for some 23 years, which is hard for me to believe. In that time, I have posted some useful information and a fair share of inaccurate claims, but what I have done consistently is to learn from all of you, remain well-informed by you, and, most importantly, befriended...
This film is a very old friend of mine. In poorly-dubbed and shortened form this was released to t.v. as THE SWORD AND THE DRAGON. Million Dollar Movie (WOR, Channel 9 in New York) ran sixteen showings in one week, and I probably watched seven or eight of them! It was then brought back on WOR a...
You have this:
and you have this:
I believe the MGM logo was used only once or twice at the front of movies but much more often on record albums and elsewhere. Aren't the similarities just about close enough so that MGM might have taken issue with Mutual of Omaha? If they didn't, why...
DRAGONSLAYER remains one of the most-requested catalog Paramount title on the m.i.a. list. It's not on 4K, it's not even on Blu-ray. Paramount Plus / Paramount proper have not announced it. Current licensees such as Kino and Shout! haven't announced it. I am wondering if anyone knows whether or...
I mean, this won the Academy Award as 2021's Best Picture, and there is no Blu-ray release in sight. I hate it when excellent films end up as streaming-only titles. Come one, Apple, you've had a pretty long window of exclusivity here already.
This was the first Streaming service title to win...
EUREKA! MASTERS OF CINEMA:
FAUST (Silent, F.W. Murnau)
THE NAKED PREY (1966, Cornel Wilde)
FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX (1965, James Stewart)
TOUCH OF EVIL (3 Discs, 2 Versions of the film, choice of aspect ratios; Orson Welles)

Well, we have seen LAWRENCE OF ARABIA get its stand-alone release (and I like it a lot!), so what about another Oscar-winner in Sony's two 4K box sets, OLIVER! ? I've heard it is a visibly better transfer, but I do not wish to spend a ton of money for the other five titles in the set.
Any...
I have a wonderful Philips BDP7501 4K player, which has been playing every damn thing I have thrown at it for two years. Just yesterday I purchased the new 4K releases of THE UNTOUCHABLES and LAWRENCE OF ARABIA. Neither of them players past the opening logo. First, has anyone else run into this...
CATCH-22:
SATIRE BRINGS THE MESSAGE HOME
AN ESSAY
Funny, yes, but not in a “That is so delightfully humorous” way, but rather in a “These characters are exaggerated beyond belief, and do crazy things that make me laugh, but only because I can see human nature sticking out through every...
A RAISIN IN THE SUN – AN APPRECIATION
“It’s dangerous, son, when a man goes outside of his home to look for peace.” So says Mama (Claudia McNeil) in the 1961 film version of Lorraine Hansberry’s play. That quaint sentiment gives a distinctive nostalgic flavor to A Raisin In the Sun...
We all have favorites. But I wanted to start up a thread listing songs that remained absolute faves for a long, long time, before finally being supplanted by another. And music is a sense memory all its own. Songs, like certain smells, bring us instantly back to earlier, usually better, times...
This article is pretty fascinating. It features photos of the abandoned Hollywood set of the town of Spectre. Recognize the hanging shoes?

I love JU DOU. IMDB describes the plot as, "A woman married to the brutal and infertile owner of a dye mill in rural China conceives a boy with her husband's nephew but is forced to raise her son as her husband's heir without revealing his parentage in this circular tragedy." Eventually, the...
I recently received five titles from the Disney Movie Club as my introductory package. This is the third time I have joined during the past twenty years, and I waited until there were enough movies I really wanted before signing up. Here are some quick thoughts:
MELODY TIME
This appears to...
There hasn't been much discussion about the Sabu / Joseph Calleia / John Qualen film, which was produced by Alexander Korda and directed by Zoltan Korda. Perhaps this is because not many people remember this version over the numerous Disney iterations, both live-action and animated, and even 3D...
Will Disney release this to Blu-ray, or will it suffer an intermitable delay while company streams it exclusively? I also wonder about WEST SIDE STORY. These Disney / Fox films could be used as fodder for exclusive Disney+ material.
I worry about this. Having to stream AVATAR 2,3, 4 and on makes me wince. First, my guess is that it was made in Real 3D. Think Disney's gonna stream that version? After all these years of promises, false starts and bullshit, I fear I will not see this as intended on my OLED.
I went to Damariscotta today to see DOUBLE INDEMNITY for the first time on a big screen, and next week will be seeing SUNSET BOULEVARD there. The rest of the series includes SABRINA, ACE IN THE HOLE and THE APARTMENT. The woman who introduced the film today is also a historian of Billy Wilder's...

Is anyone here planning on purchasing this set? Looks incredibly awesome and will contain a film I've wanted on Blu-ray for a long time (EYES OF FIRE).
You guys are doing a wonderful job with your classic releases. Just a thought: you could seriously whet our appetites for BROTHERS GRIMM were you to release one or two of your other George Pal holdings ahead of it, namely THE 7 FACES OF DR. LAO and tom thumb [sic].
Okay, we get it, and are sad that Mr. Feltenstein and Co. are no longer running the show at WAC. But who is? How about helping out the hundreds of fans and supporters of your program, and keeping us better informed about anything you are releasing. No Facebook page anymore? No official...
