What's new

Maybe a stupid question, but... (re: firmware upgrade) (1 Viewer)

I have a wonderful Philips BDP7501 4K player, which has been playing every damn thing I have thrown at it for two years. Just yesterday I purchased the new 4K releases of THE UNTOUCHABLES and LAWRENCE OF ARABIA. Neither of them players past the opening logo. First, has anyone else run into this and second, has this to do with new Java code for recent releases that require firmware upgrades? I did suspect that, and tried to get Wi-Fi to work in order to commence such an upgrade (I am not internet-connected directly to my display, but I shouldn't have to be, right?) but could not get a signal. My player and my computer/router are in separate rooms about 15 feet apart with a doorway wall between them. Is that perhaps why my WiFi isn't communicating between player and router?

Many thanks in advance.

It's possible, but that's still pretty close if the Player WiFi is functioning

I guess you should be able to download the firmware to a USB Drive and use that
