Epson and WB team up for Backyard Movie Nights competition

Epson and Warner Bros. have teamed up for a lucky winner to receive an Epson EpiqVision Mini EF12 smart streaming laser projector and free download of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The Epson Backyard Movie Nights competition runs from May 31 to June 13, and entrants can use the hashtag #EpicMovieNightSweepstakes and Epson’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

“Imagine a starlit cinematic experience in the comfort of your own backyard with a magical menagerie of wizards, witches, beasts, and more – it doesn’t get better than that,” said Rodrigo Catalan, group product manager, projectors, Epson America, Inc. “Building memories is what life is all about and through this partnership with Warner Bros., we’re excited to play a part in creating backyard movie nights that will be remembered for a lifetime.”

The EpiqVision projector includes a 3-chip 3LCD tech and can produce a 150-inch screen size from a compact footprint. The beamer can be used indoors or outdoors and has built-in Android TV, Yamaha audio and wireless connectivity. Onboard app support includes Disney+, Hulu, HBO and YouTube.

Epson says no screen is required when using the EpiqVision and but suggests hanging a sheet between trees or using a pop-up inflatable screen option for summer backyard movie nights. The 1,000-lumen 1080p projector deploys a laser phosphor light source with a rated 20,000-hour lamp life. The onboard 2 x 5W speakers should match “higher-end” soundbar audio performance, and the unit in stylish black housing weighs in at a portable 4.6 lbs. Is Fantastic Beasts a movie that has wide appeal amongst home theater aficionados? I would have thought it has a younger and/or less technically inclined core audience.
