I understand the reasoning behing the Bose bashing, and every single audio forum has it - the one universal constant. But, why no comments on such brands as Bang & Olufson? Personally, I think they are far far more overpriced for their level of performance than Bose. They don't even come up with creative BS patented technologies, they just look real fancy. Just curious.

Most people at a dinner party have never heard of Bang and Olufson. What seems to irritate people about Bose is that it has irrefutably shown that marketing matters more than quality.

Hmm, i wonder if Bose has to spend so much money on marketing and advertisement because of all the negative stuff everyone says about them. Maybe if people stop bashing them everywhere, they could stop all the marketing and lower their prices. Put yourself in their shoes, if you owned a business and you built a product that you felt was decent and people were saying bad things about it wouldn't you yourself change the way you advertise and market. From a business standpoint, marketing and advertising tactics depends on the people and society not the company itself.

YES! But more importantly I if there was something wrong with my products I would fix the problem rather than telling people that it wasn't really a problem. I would decide whether quality was more important than profit. Bose has made its own decision. Don't feel bad for Bose. They're making a killing and their owners are very satisfied.

While I agree their speakers are pretty much crap, I have to admire their business sense.

After all, aren't folks in business to make money? If that weren't the case we wouldn't all be blest with the wide variety and selection we enjoy in this space. I argue they serve a purpose and make everyone else that much better.

Don't kid yourselves......If they thought they could get away with it, every other manufacturer would do exactly as Bose does. Except for these small shops such as outlaw and SVS.......They're not run by corporate folk.....They're just gear geeks and engineers trying to improve the space or get somene to buy them out for a zillion dollars.

My 25 cents.....

True, I guess its all in the marketing that the controversy exists. I still can't imagine paying that much for B&O gear though.
