Okay, I don't want to turn it off. I don't have a problem with it at all. It is just that someone has said NONE of the DD procesors/recievers allowed you to manipulate dialogue normalization. I could have SWORN that I used to have one that did. I remember you could turn it off, but it would come back on when you turned the receiver off and then back on.I have, to the best of memory, only had 3 DD procesors/receivers. I had a Technics DD/DTS standalone processor, the Denon AVR3200 and Denon AVR3300. Maybe it was one of them?
thanks

Okay, I did some digging and found an old post where I commented that my old Denon 3200 allowed dialogue normalization to be turned off. Denon 3600 and 5800 owners commented that their receivers did the same. Someone with a Sony ES DD processor said his was adjustable too. Can anyone with these models confirm this old info?
thanks!

My denon 3200 allows me to toggle dialog normalization
on/off. In fact, I have a macro on my radio shack remote
the will do it for me.

It sounds like all Denons let you defeat DN. My AVP-8000 does too.

My Denon AVD2000 DD decoder also allows one to turn off the DN; however, DN gets reset to ON everytime the component is turned off.

My Denon AVR-3300 does not allow it to be turned off.
Luckily, I'm able to adjust the volume, so it's not important.

My Denon 5700 does not allow dialogue normalisation to be turned off. But I don't care because I know how it works, so I know it doesn't affect sound quality.

What is dialog normalization? It's not the same thing as Cinema Re-EQ as far as I understand...
Thx,
Max
