Which DVD player would you buy for up to $300.00 U.S.D
that MUST play CD-R,CD-RW,MP3 and preferably DVD-A as
well. Must be a 5 disk carousel also. Progressive Scan
would be nice but not needed.

I don't think you can get DVD-A and Progressive at your price point (yet?).
The Panasonic DVD-CV51 will set you back $250 at CC. It does not do DVD-A or progressive.
The JVC XVF85GD is a little over your price limit ($320 at CC) but it claims to be progressive. It does not do DVD-A. There general HTF feeling about JVC DVD players seems to be somewhat unflattering.

i would steer clear of JVC's DVD players. i've had bad experiences with other JVC products in the past too...i will not buy from them again.
i too am looking for a player that does DVD-A...you might want to check out the new Toshiba SD-4700 when it comes out in the next week or two. it does DVD-A and i think all other CD-R/W formats as well. http://www.toshiba.com

Thanks for the info all.
DVD-A and Progressive are not must have's but ability
to play CD-R/CD-RW/MP3/DVD Video are... The Panny CV51
looks like the player I am leaning towards but I would
like to see some reviews of it first.
