The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Hide and Seek is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one!

--Thanks once again to the indefatigable and prolific Patrick Sun for helping me post the RoundUp in a timely manner while I enjoy a couple of days rest celebrating our nation’s Independence Day. :emoji_thumbsup:

--This is the third week in a row of mostly low-key releases…although the Fox Film Noir release really doesn’t count as low-key. ;) And, I’m sure others could make cases for other films, too.

--Because I am putting this RoundUp “to bed” a little earlier than usual, I may not have all the Sunday flyer deals for our main stores. Please feel free to fill in the gaps as the flyers make their way into your homes.

--Best Buy is advertising the sale of a new EXCLUSIVE DVD at their stores. It is a Buffy, the Vampire Slayer compilation disc—called Spike, Love is Hell. It contains four episodes: School Hard, Lie to Me, Lovers Walk, and Fool for Love. It also has a profile featurette on the character of Spike from the show. BB also continues to promote the other EXCLUSIVE disc they unveiled last week…the six episode “Best of” Welcome Back, Kotter DVD.

The Appeal

Do you like the Weekly RoundUp? …and you probably like talking with other HT enthusiasts about your hobby and the latest new releases? PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THE HOME THEATER FORUM!!!

Operating the HTF is not free for Parker and Ron. That is why there is advertising throughout the forum and there has been the occasional membership fund drive. THERE IS AN EASY WAY FOR YOU TO HELP…AND IT’S FREE OF CHARGE!

If you would simply link to the Portal Page when you start your visits to the HTF, that act alone would bring revenue to the forum. While it would also be nice if you wanted to click on some of the advertisers’ links and check out their deals and sales (that form of “window shopping” would bring even more revenue to the forum), the simple act of landing on the Portal Page registers a “hit” or “impression” that creates revenue for the HTF.

So, if you’ve been “sneaking in” to the HTF through links to your favorite thread or forum, please help out by taking an extra second of your time and landing first on the HTF Portal Page. THANKS!

Mike,

Isn't the Film Noir Collection 2 from Warner? You have Fox listed on the roundup.

THanks for all the hard work as usual. Enjoy the weekend!

The CC ad shows the new $30 Das Boot DVD (the 5 hour mini-series) in the ad for $9.99. I'm sure they meant to show the regular $15 version. I already have the Superbit, but someone might want to try and see if they honor this (or PM it)!

For any Teri Hatcher fans out there, Tuesday will see the release of The Cool Surface. Don't know if it's any good, imdb has a poster that gives it a bad review, but quoting from dvdfile the other month, you can see Teri Hatcher and her "bare assets". Wonder what he meant by that? :b DvdEmpire has it listed for $10.94. It was produced in '93, shortly before she did Lois and Clark. Robert Patrick is also in it, so it's a couple of years after T2. I think I'll check it out.

Another week, another thing no purchases. Oh well, in a week from Monday, I will be on vacation, so I will need all the money I can for other things. Thanks anyway, Mike.

That new Film Noir box sounds awfully tempting, but I'll save all my money for all those "classics" that are being released next week (Garbage Pail Kids: The Movie, Bill & Ted's, National Lampoon's Movie Madness, Freaked, the Bad News Bears Triple Play...).

CC had placed the Das Boot Extended in the section (with the other ones, too), with the original $34.99 tag on it. It still rang up at that price, and I asked if there was an error in the ad. They called someone over, and she told them to override it. I am sure I got lucky there. I also got the Stripes Extended Edition for $9.99, which was nice, since I forgot to pick it up when it came out a few weeks ago.

Hey guys, I didn't see this anywhere here...BB has a Fantastic Four comic free when you buy ANY DVD $14.99 and higher. They are on a stand with Fox discs, but it works on any movie.

Also, Target has all three Harry Potter flicks for $11.99 each. Three bucks cheaper than BB and it's the lowest price I've seen for them. The sign on the shelf says it runs until August.

Thanks Mike.

One correction...the Noir collection is from the great folks at Warner Brothers, not Fox.

That is probably the only new release this week that I'll be getting. I loved S1 & S2 of Monk, but S3 was a huge letdown (in my opinion) so I'll pass on that.

Nothing or me this week off the main list, Thanks Mike for your efforts, I always stop here first to read your roundup :emoji_thumbsup:,
Thanks to Patrick's list and EricSunde's post I went over to CC and was also lucky in getting the original uncut "Das Boot" version for 9.99, the clerk had to make a couple of calls but he was able to override the 34.99 price ;) Also picked up "Narc" and "Poltergeist", for 4.99 you can't beat it!

Hey, Alfonso! Check post #7 on the Das Boot mistake. That was my find! Give me some credit, too!!:D

I wasn't going to pick up Das Boot, but the price was too good. Same thing that happened to Eric happened to me. The cashier studied the ad for about 3 minutes, called someone and gave it to me for the $9.99 price.
