About 10 minutes into The Lady from Shanghai the song "Please Don't Kiss Me" is played on a jukebox. I recognized the singer as being Ken Curtis. (It is not Frank Sinatra, as some have speculated.)
I extracted the audio clip from the Blu-ray if anyone wants to listen to it:
My question is, and this is probably a long shot --- if/when songs are specifically recorded to be used as background music in scenes like this, is information about these recordings documented somewhere, and is there a way to find and access it? I heard that earlier in his career Ken did recordings like this for some other films in addition to this one (including at least one Mickey Rooney film) but I don't know what they are. As a Ken Curtis collector I would be thrilled to discover more of them.
