I wonder what happened with Blue Skies, that was announced before The Emperor Waltz but haven't heard anything about it since.
Blue Skies was announced as getting a 2K remaster that they are doing themselves (which takes time), whereas The Emperor Waltz is just getting released with the scan they were given.

Ah, yes, The Emperor Waltz; the film in which Edith Head received her first of 35 Oscar nominations.

We sure are lucky to have Kino Lorber, as they’ve been the finest resource for all our Billy Wilder needs; inclusive of the upcoming Arise, My Love. :thumbs-up-smiley:

Ah, yes, The Emperor Waltz; the film in which Edith Head received her first of 35 Oscar nominations.
And the loss of which she bitched about her entire career saying that her beautiful gowns lost to Karinska's armor for Joan of Arc. She was obviously ambitious enough to want to be among the very first winners of the new costume design Oscar, but it was churlish of her to denigrate Karinska and Dorothy Jeakins' work in Joan of Arc because if you've seen the movie, you know there is more to the costume work than armor. There are beautiful gowns in it, too, Miss Head!

Besides, the Academy made it up to her in the next two years honoring her with three awards in that time.
