Isabel Sanford who played Weezy Jefferson on the Jeffersons has died.
Should be Weezy Jefferson.
That is a crying shame! She was a truly talented and funny lady. I remember her holding her own against formidable talents the likes of Sherman Hemsley, Carroll O'Connor and Jean Stapleton. She did so with grace and finesse, with a naughty twinkle in her eye.
Another TV legend gone. May she rest in peace. "Movin' on up, to the east side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky."
"Weezie" had a long, productive life. The recent Old Navy commercial featured just a fleeting glimpse of her - I wondered why. RIP
I just found out she was almost 20 years older than Sherman Helmsley.
Her first role was in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? (1967) as, of course, the maid. Tillie: Civil rights is one thing. This here is somethin' else.
