Hi all,

I intend to replace my receiver that just failed me, nothing
on line out after a fuse blow.
Today I have :
DVD Sony DVPS 7700
Speakers KEF Q35
DIY AMP (transistor+valves) 100W
Receiver Sherwood 5030, Prologic but not DTS, that apparently died.

Up to now, I mainly used the receiver in bypass mode.
I intend to be equiped with central and back speakers for full DTS/Prologic.

Could you advice me.
Thanks

Luc (France)

Hi Luc, welcome to the HTF. First of all, what type of budget are you on? On this forum you will hear a lot about Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha and Pioneer. Sony also makes a nice ES series. I would start looking at those brands to begin with but depending on how much you are looking to spend it will make a difference.

Luc JLB: what research have you done? Narrow your choices down to four or so and then ask around here for personal experiences and search for problems on those specific models.

I noticed that your overseas so you'll probably have different models #'s than us in the US. Just stick with Denon, Pioneer Elite, H/K, Sony ES and you can't go wrong.

All,

What I'm looking for is amp that will allow me to use
my own amp for hifi and main speakers, and still allow
me to have prologic/dts feature in the future.
I quite liked the bypass mode on the sherwood that gave
volume control, audio and video control on all possible
inputs, I mean dvd/vcr/radio/sat/computer/digicam and
outputs TV/screen/vcr/PC.
I have to say I have not done much research on my side, as
I'm not sure what I am looking for and that why I came here
for.
All your responses will help me.
I'll keep you informed with my vhoice.

Again adThanksvance

Luc
