MGM to release Mystery of Edogawa Rampo on DVD (1 Viewer)

It's part of their World Cinema collection. I've wanted to see this for nearly ten years and was never able to track it down on tape in my area. I'd imagine this will be a bare bones release like others in the World Cinema series, and probably only contain one version of the film (there are two), but should be worth a look.

Has this been released on DVD before? Perhaps in another region?

The U.S. release title is just "Mystery of Rampo."

As far as I know, there has only been one version screened in the U.S., the more surreal, producer approved cut.

The other version was only shown in Japan (released concurrently with the producer's version) and it was not a popular or critical success.

Much of the movie's appeal lies in the footage added by the producer, although I would be interested in seeing the other version.

This has been announced as an anamorphic release, so I'm really hoping MGM didn't just port the laserdisc transfer.
