an article to accompany those numbers. A few highlights:

"...hardware dollars were down 14 percent year-over-year because of price cuts on the major consoles that took effect last May. Unit sales were up 28 percent."

"...PS2 game sales were up 20 percent year-over-year, Xbox games were up 26 percent, games for the GameCube were up 86 percent and games for the handheld Game Boy Advance were up 28 percent."

"Counting only the current generation, Patel said, software sales were up 28 percent year-over-year on a dollar basis."

"...prices of games for the current generation of consoles fell an average of 20 percent in January over a year ago, with PS2 pricing at $38, Xbox at $40 and GameCube titles coming in at $39."
