Used to be a huge Norton Internet Security user until
I got tired of that bloated software that considerably slowed my
system.

Two years ago I switched to Micro Trend PC-Cillin Internet
Security
, and was extremely happy with its overall performance
and small footprint that was placed on my system.

When I recently upgraded to the new PC-Cillin 2007, I noticed
significant bugs. For one, my Internet was automatically disconnecting
after a few hours of usage. Looking at user review across the Internet
I was shocked to find that the 2007 version was riddled with problems.

So, I have been doing research. I felt that surely one Internet Security
program has to be better than all the others.

I was surprised to read in PC MAGAZINE that Norton 2007
was rated very high this year for the fact that for once, it's not
supposed to tax system resources as badly as it had in previous years.
The review felt that Norton did the best overall job of protecting
computers.

However, read reviews on user feedback sites and there are still
complaints about Norton not installing correctly or licensing issues
when uninstalling and reinstalling it on the same PC.

Zone Alarm was actually rated the very best overall suite
in comparison studies, but user feedback suggests that its actually
the firewall that exceeds here while antivirus, spyware and spam take a
backseat to other brands.

Kaspersky actually rated VERY high as far as antivirus
is concerned, but its spyware and firewall took a backseat to other
brands.

Even AVG Internet Security was rated well, but reviews
suggest it had problems identifying spamware and malware.

I don't want any FREE programs. I just want a Security Suite
that has a small footprint, is easy to configure and does a really
superb job of finding and blocking viruses, malware, spyware and
similar threats.

Would be interested in hearing what some of you are using and
what you think of its performance.

NOD32 looks great, but alas, it's only an antivirus not
complete security protection. Also, most all reviews
that I have just read agree that it's rather difficult to
set up and not geared towards novices.
