Back in the 80s while still in college (the first time!) when I used to think ahead to what my music system would be liek when I had a decent job, one of the things I daydreamed about was putting together a good FM antenna system. It would be mounted outside for best reception and would include a motorized rotator so i could aim it at the station's transmission tower for the best possible signal; and finally, use quality cabling to properly get that signal to my carefully chosen *standalone* tuner. I was also going to string up an AM antenna outside, because that band also some interesting programs like news & sports shows. And becasue of the way the AM format operates, at night there is the potential to receive other stations many more miles away than when the sun's interference is not present.
Then the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was signed and that particular daydream soon flickered out. :frowning:
