I found the child actors to be far superior in "The Ring." In "Ringu," there is no performance from Sadako. The only time you ever see her is once when her mother is being heckled as a fraud and again during the finale. She has no dialogue, she has no face, only a silly looking eye peeking out from the long hair that constantly covers her face and upper body.I agree with you that the American version is superior, but I didn't like them showing Samara's face. In Ringu, the Sadako character is more enigmatic and frightening because you don't see her face. But then, I'm of the opinion that the unseen is always scarier than the blatant when it comes to horror.
