how close is too close for center rear? (1 Viewer)

My L/R surrounds are about 9 ft apart...does it make sense to add a center rear between these? (The center rear would be about 1 ft behind the plane of the main surrounds; all are ceiling-mounted.)

Makes sense, even if the rear center was a few feet from my head I wouldn't be concerned unless there was a lot of "hiss"
That center rear produces sound behind your head while the surrounds sort of put sound directly into each ear. I think that's why the surrounds are supposed to be directly to the left/right to each ear.
If you have the 6.1 capability, why not use it
