Plot: The ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won him a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional racecar driver.

I've been on the fence about committing time to seeing Gran Turismo. I'm not a car or racing fan, but I really enjoyed Ford vs. Ferrari a few years back. So I gave this a chance during a sneak preview on Saturday night.

Gran Turismo is fun. It's not going to solve the problems of the world or appeal to everyone, just to be clear. It doesn't have a lot to say about the state of the world or humanity or anything like that. It is fun. It is fast (both the cars and the running time...I was never bored). That's about what I've got for it. Ultimately forgettable when the lights come up...it is one of the better video game adaptations out there (low bar, I know).

My one, big quibble is that the movie wants this big, emotional moment near the end to mean something. I felt it didn't do nearly enough of the foundation work to make me really care about it.

The audience was pretty into it, especially the gamer guys sitting in the upper row of the theater.
