    Hello,

I have a JVC XV-SA70 DVD player and in the specs it states that the video output is 525i/525p. Now I read somewhere that this is really 480i/480p as there is a cropping effect (whatever that means).

Is this true? Most other DVDs I see are listed as having 480i/p output?

    Thanks

    Richard

Yes, it's the same thing. NTSC uses 525 lines to "paint" a picture, but only 480 lines are active.
