I am geting the Denon 2900 dvd player this weekend and I wonder if the DACs on this dvd player are better than the ones that come with the Marantz receiver? I've read that the DACs on the 2900 are the same ones used on Denon's higher priced gear so I was wondering if watching movies through the dvd player's DACs and using the player's internal decoder would yield me better audio results?.

I have the Paradigm 100v.3 front.
Paradigm 570v.3 Center
Energy speakers Surrounds.
SVS-20-39 CS+
Marantz 8200 Receiver.

I have an 8300 with a 2200 and the 8300s DACs are better for redbook, but not hi-res. I have only listened to the 2900 with SACD, and it's DACs sounded smoother than the 2200s, so it may have better redbook performance as well. ADDC (Adaptive Double Differential Control) may have something to do with that as well.

For movies, the bass management and overall sound will probably be better with the 8200.

Interesting, I just saw the 8300 already listed as discontinued...so what will the 8400 have? That wasn't long, I only bought it a few months ago. Doh...gotta go call my dealer.

Wow, the 8300 already discontinued?, people were talking about getting the new 8300 just a couple of months ago. they really got out of that one quickly.

Thank you John, I guess I'll have to listen for myself and see what the real deal is.
