Anyone know if Anchor Bay's new edition of Ken Russell's CRIMES OF PASSION is using the old laserdisc commentary or a new one? It was a bit of a shme in the old one that Ken Russell disappears after about 40 minutes, leaving the writer to continue.

Everyone and their cousin probably already knows this, but this title has been bumped to a March 19 release.

    P.S.
I'm guessing the commentary from Russell will be the same.

Considering the dvd commentary is by Russell with Barry Sandler (writer/producer) just as on the laser, I would think it is definitely the same commentary.

IMO, the commentary only gets good once Russell leaves. He just brings it down with inane comments telling us what we can see on screen. Sandler doesn't say much letting Russell, unfortunately, take the stage. Once he does leave though, Sandler has his chance to talk about some of the finer points of what he was trying to achieve, something Russell doesn't bother to do.
