What is the best bookshelf speaker for under $500? Thanks.

IMO, I really like the Paradigm Reference Studio/20. B&W 600 series (either the 601 or 602) is another good one. The discontinued Energy Connoisseur C-2 were very highly rated by me.
Of course, I am biased...have Studio/60 V.1 mains, CC-450 centre and Studio/20 V.1 rears.
Alon Rascals. $500/pr.
IMO, the Infinity IL10s are the best bookshelves I've listened to for
Platinum Solos for $550 but without stands.
I'm partial to the nOrh wood 5.1 or ceramic 4.0 for $400 a pair. Axiom has the 3Mtis that should be good and Ascend has the CBM-170s that are a winner. Could go with AV Reality Monitor for $279 or $299 that includes shipping or Swan Diva 2.1 or 4.1. Those would be my initial best ones. If you can build the cabinet, toss in the ACI Opal.
Ditto on the IL10's. Check out Home Theater's review at http://manuals.harman.com/INF/HOM/Pr...ude_review.pdf
