The only thing Anchor Bay can possible do is create a new anamorphic widescreen transfer and a restored Mono English soundtrack.

Remember Woody Allen hates supplement and surround sound?

But I'd gladly pick this up when it does get released.

They could release it along with a subtitled Kagi no Kagi - the film from which it was derived. That would be pretty darn cool if they could get the rights to both.

IFC showed a VERY good transfer of What's Up, Tiger Lily? on Monday.

I was surprised that it was even letterboxed to 2.35:1! I would definately like a DVD of this one...

Yes, an anamorphic disc of WHAT'S UP TIGER LILY, is long overdue!

And if I can take the floor to push for some more Anchor Bay suggestions:

TILT

THE CANDY SNATCHERS

STONE (Australian biker classic)

THE CHANT OF JIMMIE BLACKSMITH (Fred Schepisi)

THE DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND (Fred Schepisi)

THE SILENT PARTNER

THE GIRL IN A SWING (Gordon Hessler)

PRIVILEGE (Peter Watkins)

TOOMORROW

IMAGES (Robert Altman)

MELODY

I'm still waiting for Anchor Bay to release Making Contact on DVD. It was spose to come out back in 2000, but it won't come out till the 2nd half of 2002. Anchor Bay now lists it as a special edition containing both English and German versions of the film, so that's okay with me. :)

I have a feeling that What's Up Tiger Lilly may not be on DVD due to a rights problem as it is available in region 2 & 4. Charly, another title that Anchor Bay has released on VHS but not on DVD, is also out in Region 2.
I would love to see Anchor Bay release Season of the Witch, The Crazies, Lovers & Other Strangers & The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea, but there may be a DVD rights problem with these too as I don't understand why Anchor Bay has released them on VHS but not DVD.

I read somewhere that AB's VHS version of the film was cut and/or had some alternate dialouge so I hope they could fix all of that before they release it on dvd.

I would also like to add God Told Me Too to my previous post.
Many of the films Anchor Bay has released on VHS and not DVD are controlled by other studios for DVD release. I wish there was a way of finding out who controls the DVD rights to these films.

A few weeks ago I saw what I presume was a crappy cheapo double-bill DVD with God Told Me To and Carnival of Souls in a major local DVD outlet. It was only $6.99, I believe, and featured "Andy Kaufman" on the cover.
Figured it couldn't be any good technically, so I left it.
