Very nice release, but as a restorative effort it still pales in comparison to the grand-daddy of all restorations - the seventy million dollar plus work to save Out of the Blue. Even the pyramids required less labour.
You’re correct. Nothing more that Scott (or anyone) could have done to create a higher quality version. Obviously, without the cooperation via access to further elements.

Precisely. A perfect example is GF3, which was single strand S35. All printer functions were duped and cut in. In 2007, we had a bit of time and budget, and were able to replace the most problematic - all had been poorly made.
Most recently all were replaced with OCN.

Full disclosure. I saw Invaders from Mars as a kid and hated it. It was an ultra-low budget affair in a color process that looked like crap. Even then I noticed shadows as actors walked too close to the background cyc.
I saw it on DVD years later, and that didn't solve anything.
