    Headphone setup

Hi--I have a Pioneer VSX-LX102 receiver and I am trying to connect my Sennheiser HDR175 headphones. I have connected the headphone cable to the Optical (tv) output but get no sound to headphones. What additional steps are needed within the receiver to get audio? I now have the headphones hooked...

    Center CS1 or CS2?

Polk suggest both the CS1 and CS2 matched to the Monitor 60 series. Can anyone give an opinion on which would be the best as there doesn't seem to be much difference in the two other than cost?

    Help needed with speaker decision.

dmiller68---thanks for the input. At this point I have chosen left and right monitor 70's with the CS2 center, both by Polk. The receiver witll be the Onkyo TX SR 707. I'll probably have to go with a wireless Sub to give me some leeway as to its location. Wish me luck. Frank

will I be happy with this first time setup?

Thanks Dave----I have a friend with experience who is now trying to talk me into a low end HT System stating that my speaker choices are too powerful and need to be played very loudly. This is a 3 sided livingroom about 12 x 12 next to an open 12 x 12 diningroom. It seems like the more I learn...

Onkyo TX SR707 or TX SR608

Gene thanks for the detailed, concise reply. I will download the manuals as you have suggested and consider the 708 but it's a little pricey at this time. I have no interest in 3D and the pass through doesn't seem critical but the Network might be. That is something I will have to investigate...

Onkyo TX SR707 or TX SR608

I was just about to pull the trigger on one of these receivers when a friend who has some knowledge (I have none) said "make sure it has-- #1 Internet connection #2 HDMI pass through #3 Ipod dock #4 Calibration Mic From what I can tell only the SR608 has pass through. I can't tell if...

    Help needed with speaker decision.

HI---I'm new to this and it is driving me nutz. I have decided to go totally refurbished to get the best bang but other than the receiver, I"m finding it impossible to pick a Left, Right and Center speaker. Unless challanged, I will be going with a Marantz SR5004 or Onkyo TX SR 707 receiver for...

Help----No room for a sub woofer.

Getting smarter all the time. It appears there is such a thing as "wireless subwoofers" Now that just might work if I can place it in an open area connected to the living room. I haven't yet found any good reviews so help me out if you have any experience or knowledge in this area.

Help----No room for a sub woofer.

Doing a little research re my subwoofer problem I found "powered speakers" which produce more base, I think. Any comments would be helpful.

Help----No room for a sub woofer.

The way my living room is setup I have little to no options to rearrange furniture or to place a sub woofer. My only two options are right under the left front speaker or on the other side of the room between a chair and love seat which is the listening area. So!!!!!! If these locations are...

Where are all the refurbished speakers?

Geezzz!!!! This home theater stuff can get expensive! In an attempt to control costs I am leaning toward refurbished receivers from Marantz or Onkyo. If I can go that route----Why not speakers too? So far I have only found two good sites that feature Boston or Polk. If anyone knows of other...

    What receiver to buy???????????

Jason and friends, you have been a great help. I think I will take Jason's advice a go with a decent receiver and start with the front stage. While getting that setup working I can then do the research for the speakers to be added later. I'm gonna throw this out there just to make ya...

    What receiver to buy???????????

Thanks for the help guys-----------I started out looking at an HTIB which was quite reasonable ($500) in price but of course it has major limitations. Buying the various units individually is difficult and much more expensive but probably the right way to go. I'm ok with spending $400 for the...

    What receiver to buy???????????

Gene---Thanks for the reply. In respect to the HDMI inputs, I'm not sure just what components need this feature. Is it the TV, Blu Ray or DVD player, WII console which I have----What else would there be in the future? Are you suggesting that I could go for a $200 or $300 low end receiver and...
