It's not the player. I changed from a panny to a ps3, and I get the sparkles at the same points. I notice now that with netflix steaming...I see sparkles throughout the loading screen and during SD and HD movies. I have a feeling it is the cable from the Denon AVR to the TV. It's 15ft of...
I changed the HDMI cable from the AVR to the PS3 player, and I still have "sparkles" upon loading screens, and during SD DVD playback. No sparkles during full 1080p blu-ray movies, only during the loading screens or if it's an SD movie. Before I replace the cable from the TV to the AVR, any...
My hdmi is run about 20 feet and is close, but not ran together, with speaker wire and power cable. I'm guessing hdmi isn't very sensitive to electrical noise since it's almost always in such close proximity to power cables in rack situations. What is a good brand hdmi for such a long run...
Sparkles I guess would describe it best. It's almost as if it is upconverting and filling in the missing pixels with white dots. It is very vague if you look quickly, but it is very noticeable if you are watching a movie. It only does it on standard dvd's and the loading screens on blu rays.
It also happens when a bluray disc is on the loading screen...it shows artifacts almost like a vague white snow in the backround, but once the bluray is finished loading, it's crystal clear...except if I'm watching a standard DVD, then the artifacts stay throughout the movie and it sucks.
I'm half way there. I'm looking for an older receiver from the 70's to suit my needs, however in the meantime the 2808 will do.
It does have a Pure Direct Mode which is different than the Direct/Stereo Mode it also has. I have read that is bypasses all the circuitry inside. Anyways, I'll...
Interesting thought to use it at as a transport, but I don't know why I would rather have a single unit and use the denon in pure direct mode.
The main idea behind my thought process, is that cd players are made for listening to music, whereas if I use my panasonic BD player now, or buy a new...
I'm in search of a high quality CD player where it would be better to bypass the DAC in my Denon 2808 and use the one in the player. Does anyone have any suggestions? I will probably be seeking used, but as far as price goes...$500 or so?
I don't understand something. I got the movie from netflix the other day, and there was no option for an HD soundtrack. My denon only displayed Dolby Digital.
Yea, I dunno. I'm not worried about the 3D thing just yet. Honestly I don't even think it's all that cool.
Something weird about using the PS3 for me as a BD player. A quirk if you will...
Does the oppo-83 even compare to a PS3 though?
Crap. I don't know why I missed that. The reason I did it is because I wanted the tv to run through the power conditioner that powers all the components which is on it's own breaker in the closet. I suppose I could just have the tv plug into the wall without a conditioner, no big deal right...
I use all Blue Jeans cables. And for the monitor out on the 2808 I use a 20 ft run of what the recommend for runs under 25 feet. How sensitive are hdmi runs to interference? I have it run in the same tube as the speaker cables and power cable for the tv. Like I said though, it is only when...
PS3??? Would one really put the oppo 83 in the same category as a PS3? I really just don't want a gaming system in my HT room, so i'm biased. I will however keep my eyes open after this week to see what a good buy will be.
Duh. Good idea. I just need to program my harmony remote to keep the dvr ON when switching functions. But how do I switch which video-out I want the vip22 to use?
I'm thinking about giving my dad my bd player, so I was wondering what would be a good upgrade from what I have now? Will 200 dollars more even make a difference?
I'm buying some new speakers for a 2 channel stereo setup. Before I buy a separate amp to drive them, I want to use the denon 2808. If the dish dvr uses hdmi through the denon, what is the way to keep the tv on the screen, and at the same time use the denon to power the speakers and listen to...
I noticed that when I watch blu-ray, when the screen is black and loading, it has a grainy, small white flecks, pixels...I don't know what to call it. Whenever I watch a standard dvd through the blu-ray player, I also notice this flecking throughout the movie, mainly noticeable on the black...
I would like to use the pink noise on the dve with my spl meter to set levels...but the only way to change the levels that I have figured out so far is to shoot to the menu screen (which uses the tv so you can't see the dve anymore...just the big black menu screen)...and adjustments of the...
Oh that's cool. Thanks Do you know what device would work best using the wireless router with my DVR and BD player? Do I have to buy another thing to use the ethernet connections on them, or can you use the USB port as the other end of the wireless?
I'm in the market for a wireless router and I'm pretty close to getting the DIR655 as well. I had a question though. I want to have the main computer hardwired via the cable modem, and then other laptops and cable boxes would use the wireless. I noticed that some of the cheaper models from...
It said Multi channel IN on the display...so it was in PCM. I also just got some new/old klipsch mains, and I've been doing a lot of tweaking with levels and frequency...so maybe I was just in a fog from all the messin around and for some reason thought DD sounded better...I dunno, maybe I...
Everything is in my sig. It's a Panasonic 35 BD player and everything is connected via HDMI. Can you explain what the difference is between the two? DD and PCM. The PCM seemed, how can I put it...overmodulated. Not to a great degree, but it seemed less clean, and the bass seemed deeper in DD. I...
I caught a few minutes of How to be a Mega-star on Dish and was amazed. So, I went out and bought the blu-ray. I watched it in 5.1 PCM, which I thought was supposed to sound better, and I was let down. It sounded so much better in dolby digital 5.1. Is it just me or is something up with the...
I want to take advantage of the new avr with 7.1 surround. I'd like to spend under $300 for a pair of rear surrounds. I was looking at Energy's CR100s. I have a few questions on 7.1 though... If I have 2 surround speakers in my HT right now (in the upper corners of a square room)...where do I...
