Have to agree, loved the look of mine above the fireplace but sore neck had to take it down. Unless you can get your seeting back far enough i wouldn't suggest going above the fireplace.
For your speaker setup try dolby.com they have a great setup wizard. They don't have 6.1 setup but go with the 7.1 and just move the single to the middle rear position. I have basically the same speakers and reciever as you they sound awesome.
Applied the Screen Goo right to the drywall. Ran out of money but remote lighting will be my next purchase. Using a harmony remote which i love just wish they had blue tooth.
The LED lights are on a stanard dimmer. The only problem is the LED's seem to only have 3 settings on the dimmer, which does not bug me that much. Don't know if you can get special dimmers for LED's or not.

Running Polk RTi A7 fronts, CSI A6 Center, FXI A6 side surround but don't know what to use as rear surrounds. Should I use another set of the FXi A6's or use the RTi A3's?

The projector i'm looking at for the screen size i want has a 14.5 foot throw. My seating is 17 feet from the screen. This puts my head 4 feet from the projector. Is 32dB going to be a distraction at this distance?
