I have been using my Bluray DVD player, for listening to audio CD's. Without spending a fortune, will I get better performance from a new separate CD player ? Any name brand recommendations are welcomed. Thanks

Finally upgrading my Home Theater receiver

Thanks people- So whats up with Onkyo ? Is it the general consensus that it has lost it's luster ? Or are the higher priced receivers better quality ?

Finally upgrading my Home Theater receiver

I have had my Onkyo TX-SR700 for nearly 15 years or more and have been more than pleased with it's longevity and performance for all these years. Searching for new Onkyo receivers, 100-140+ watts per channel, 7-1 or 7-2 has left me a bit worried on their quality. The reviews have been less than...

    Adapter Needed for new Roku

Bluray and Roku are connected by HDMI to my Panasonic Plasma TV, that has HDMI inputs. I will split the HDMI from the Roku, with a 2 way splitter- One to TV then use an HDMI to Optical adapter to the Onkyo receiver. Monoprice is working on finding the adapter, if they have one that will work.

I have an older model Onkyo 5:1 receiver. It does not have HDMI inputs. It does have audio Optical inputs My older Roku player had an Optical output, so I was able to use the Onkyo receiver for Netflix movies. I ordered a new Roku 3, because it has the ability to show youtube videos. My...

Win an Onkyo TX-NR1030 9.2 channel Dolby Atmos AV Receiver

I am the owner of an Onkyo Home Theater receiver I have owned for over 15 years. This would be a dream come true to win. I am retired and doubt if I could afford this beautiful receiver otherwise.

    Onkyo TXSR- 700

There is a connection for a rear center channel on my 5/1 Onkyo TXSR-700 receiver. Since it is labled as a 5/1 receiver, how does this location apply ? Has anyone connected and used this speaker location ? Is it worth the extra cost for what I will gain from it ?

    Rear Speaker placement

About every diagram for setting up speakers for a 5/1 system show the rear speakers in back of a couch or seating area. Let's face it, none of the homes I see, including mine, have room enough to move a couch that much away from the back wall. Where would be the best placement of rear/rear...

    Movie Soundtracks Not Compatible ?

Just as I thought. So spending big bucks on equipment and speakers is really a waste of time and money There should be a way for all concerned to contact the studios and demand compatability labeling on all DVDs .

    Movie Soundtracks Not Compatible ?

I know this question has been asked many times. Not only here but on several discussion groups. Could it be, that the movie soundtracks meant for theaters, are not compatible with "Home Theater" set ups ? Extremly low dialog and thunderous special effects are ruining my experience. My remote...

    Search with Bluray

It takes forever to use the letter/number pad to search within YouTube and other sites with my new Panasonic Bluray. Are there any plans to include a keyboard input for TV's or Blurays that are NET capable ? Could there be an application in the future to use a keyboard on equipment...

    Our Gang DVD source

I think this Email from Leonard Maltin clears up what I have been trying to say. And I believe that for the 23 years of production, there are many "Our Gang" shorts still missing. (From Leonard Maltin, Movie Crazy)- [email protected]     Hi… the series was always known as OUR...

    Our Gang DVD source

Your reply includes what I was saying-   "Our Gang was produced at the Roach studio starting in 1922 as a silent short subject series"   Every movie title in the begining, until about 1938 was "Our Gang". "Little Rascals" was used later on.   Any one have a source ?

    Our Gang DVD source

I am looking for the hard to find "Our Gang" videos on DVD. Our Gang, not to be confused with The Little Rascals, were made at the Hal Roach studio from the 20's to 30's.   Many of the offerings on the web or at stores, have both titles mixed, and never just the complete Hal Roach "Our...

    Component cable VS Hdmi

I have a Panasonic plasma 50" that is 1080p certified. My Older Onkyo TXSR 700 does not have HDMI inputs. I am using the optical out for audio. Will using a bluray player with component cable cause any great loss of picture quality over HDMI ?

    Trouble codes

Anyone know where I can get the trouble code list for Panasonic Plasma TV's ? The "power on" LED will blink the codes up to 40 blinks. The codes will enable troubleshooting. I had mine blink 10 times and Panasonic tech advised a few causes/ solutions. One of which was to have the TV on its own...

    Help choosing Internet Player

I ran accross the new Netgear EVA 2000 reviews and this looks like something I have been waiting for. 3D Movies

Best way to wire rear-speakers with hardwood floors/obstacles

As an Electrician, I have used many "Flexible" wood drill bits that may be of help. By flexible I mean that the long drive shaft can bend. After a hole is cut (between studs) for a box, you can insert the bit into the center of the cavity and with downward pressure bend the shaft away from...

    Tired of loud commercials

Hope someone else is as fed up with loud, blaring, annoying commercials as I am. I'm a Direct TV subsciber. Are there any new gadgets out there that will either keep a constant volume, or mute automatically ? I am so sick of constantly having the remote in my hand to combat this. I...

    Displays should be open

I believe that all speaker companies should have a cut-away sample on display at the dealership so that the end user can actually see whats in the box. Your listening experience

Wow! I never expected so much great advice. Just to clarify things- It seems that the special effects are twice as loud as the dialog. So when they are running full force, my wife cant take it [Kids and I love it] and she says its too load, so I lower the volume. End of effects and back to...

    Your listening experience

On my Onkyo SR-TX700 there is a speaker calibration mode which emits "pink noise" to each selected speaker.
