I have a Yamaha htr 5840...it has two optical inputs for audio...and i don't have any hdmi's on the receiver which sux I have digital cable running optical...i have my XBOX 360 running optical and i have now an HD DVD player to run optical... what do i do?

Okay, sounds good...while i had it with pcm which wasn't showing dolby it was saying "prologic" but when it's playing correctly it will show "dolby digital" when i had it set for bitstream... whenever a disc has DTS i set it to that and the receiver will show "DTS" even when it was set at PCM.

I switched DVD players last night and went into use my avia disk and when i was testing the surrounds it would play sound from both L and R speakers when it played them both? Also in the subwoofer check where it counts down in MHz's it wouldn't work? I ended up going into the dvd options and...

OK...i checked it out on the PS3 and it didn't seem too bad at all, maybe that's bc of the update? still wasn't as good as my oppo but i looked @ it back to back with a Denon unit that does well and me personally am considering going with just the PS3... I'll have to see if i actually even...

care to point me in the right direction as to what that Reon chipset's benefits are?

I have a 42" 1080P Westinghouse moniter... right now i am using a Samsung player which does mediocre! looking at getting a PS3 with blu-ray so most new additions would be in blu-ray but while looking at old dvd's does the PS3 in most opinions do an adequete job or is something like an Oppo...

well i play video games PS3 on mine and didnt want to have any worries about burn in...the picture looks great regardless... the blacks are not BLACK but for the most part with light in the room you can't tell...really only if you are watching something that has bars at the top and bottom...

I have that set!! it is a great set and for the price you should buy it!!! get you the avia disc if you don't have it (it was set pretty close for me from the factory) and enjoy 1080p!!!

well I am asking really is specifically picture quality...is the Denon that much of a better player than the Oppo when it comes to picture quality???

I will end up getting the Harmony 880...ive seen some pretty good deals on the unit! I really like the RF capabilities of the 890...it would be fun to have the AV equipment "hidden" but not worth the $$$ to be that different :)

I have a yamaha receiver that has a AC outlet on the back which I could plug in my old Sony Wega... Now I have switched to the Westinghouse 42w2 model and it has a three prong plug so it doesn't fit...what does everyone do that wants to have their TV power on with the receiver when there is...

I have the Westinghouse 1080p model, very good unit...who needs a tuner? lol...very nice picture... My brother has the 46" xbr2 1080p which has better black levels but it is more than TWICE the price of mine... If i wanted to spend 3G's on a television i would have just bought two of these :)

looking at this unit at CC...it's an upscale 1080p model, anyone seen it or know where a review is to it?

Why do the trailers from the xbox look better than the upscaled signal from the the oppo digital???

I think I had unreasonable expectations (after watching HD and Blu-ray) but certain DVD's will look better than others...i.e. Hellboy and SinCity look very close to perfect!
