I've had a Sony Vaio PCG-GRV680 since it came out in 2003; it had a great matte screen with a 180 degree viewing angle (like many LCD tvs out there right now); but the old Vaio has finally died on me. So I've ventured out from my 6 year consumer slumber to find that laptop screens have...
I've got a strange problem that's popped up, and I was wondering if any of you have seen something like it. When I play a Blu-Ray disc on my PS3, there is a persistent vertical line on the screen. It really looks like there's a crease in the screen similar to the broadcasts of "How the West Was...
I've been researching and working on this 26 inch, 720p LCD for 5 days now, and it still has problems. Given my frustration level, I'm just going to throw this out; any help or advice would be much appreciated. Two chief problems remain. One is the cable signal. I don't have the HD cable...
Just a quick note to let you know that everything works great! :-D I bought a "Volume Control Headphone Extension Cord" from Radio Shack, and the Fantastic Four Extended Cut sounded great! I'm not sure why Radio Shack calls this inline control an "Extension Cord", though; it's only about 8...
Thanks! :-) Hopefully the sensitivity won't be a problem, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. The extension cord I bought from Radio Shack is incredibly tight, so I can't imagine it being a problem; the in-line volume control ports are the question mark. It will probably be a week or so...
Got the Y-splitter, and it all works except for the volume control issue. I've tried the RCA input suggestions, and they don't work with my equipment; but I think I may have found another solution: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...4&src=3SOSWXXA It seems to be an in-line volume...
Yep; the instruction manual says L / R; and the white/red ports along with the plugs on mine match up to the description and photo of RCA jacks at Wiki. The key for me is that "Y adapter" word! lol I should be able to find it now; thanks! :-D
I badly want to use headphones on my television, but I have no headphone jack in any piece of hardware related to the tv. I've read around, and it would seem that there is an adapter than can turn your audio outputs into a headphone jack; but I can not find anywhere that sells such an adapter...
Only two pieces of the DC Animated Universe have yet to see season sets - The Zeta Project (only one season exists) and Static Shock. Well, WB just opened up a survey asking how much we would be interested in several releases, so you may want to take a few moments to fill out the survey...
Thanks for the kind words! :) In truth, I'm one of these annoying people who usually figures out where the movie is headed within the first 15 minutes. On Signs, I thought I had it nailed down with the rapture thought; and I was on the edge of my seat for the entire movie waiting for this...
^ Yes - I noticed it this week too. It was actually pretty annoying once I realized what was going on. Why would anyone sign off on the idea of showcasing a 30 second summary of the episode just before the episode is shown? I don't believe I've ever seen it done.
Universal does seem to miss a great many opportunities. For instance, I know there were several extras they could have easily included on the Sliders set (such as the video press kits for season one and two - some great interviews and behind the scenes with the cast in those). However, the...
Just wanted to chime in and say what an excellent review this was. The first two seasons of Sliders were truly magical to me; and I've always wished that the good parts of the show would get more recognition. Now that it's on DVD, maybe that will happen.
Finally made it to see Spider-man 2. I don't know...it was okay, but it just didn't feel right to me. I think I most missed the stylized segways between scenes that the first Spider-man film had. I also felt the Doctor Octopus plot was a bit...off. It would have made much more sense to tie it...
The most definitive "Wow" moment for me in a movie is the original Matrix. I had apparently been living in a cave for quite some time, and I had no idea what the Matrix was about even though it had been at the theater for weeks. So I went into the Matrix really expecting some kind of hip action...
Though it is rarely noted, John Landis was instrumental in the creation of Sliders and its magical first season. In any case, I've never really understood these kinds of discussions. Do we watch entertainment for the ideas or the people behind them? Personally, I watch for the ideas; if the...
M. Night's "Signs" could use a remake. The twist for the end should have been the revelation that this was the rapture. As a result, the priest was literally running from his faith for the entire movie; and the "aliens" were really angels marking the ground near those who were to be taken (ala...
For any who are missing Futurama, I would suggest the Futurama comic book if you are not currently reading it. Surprisingly, it captures the flavor of the series very well; and new issues are still coming out (though there can often be a month or two between issues).
Like it or not, the life and death of modern science fiction on television has centered around Star Trek. Science fiction television thrived in the 90's because Trek was thriving. Now Trek has almost been run into the ground, and television has been diminished with it. Why is this the case...
Call me a glutton for punishment, I guess; but I do miss Sliders. However, I moreso miss what it was in the first two seasons. It was a brilliant show under the direction of Tracy Torme and Robert K. Weiss. Such a shame that Fox had to cause the direction change in season three.
I wasn't expecting to like the new incarnation of the Justice League animated series, but I must say it's been rather well done so far. The first episode was very energized; and they used their heads in having Green Arrow as a focal point. For me, at least, it kept the episode grounded; a much...
