Is the "Quick and the Dead" Superbit any good?

I hesitated watching it for years because I thought Sharon Stone in a western was "Cheezy". When I watched it though, I was really suprised how entertaining it was. I am interested in purchasing it, but if the regular edition is just as good as the Super Bit, I will just buy it. Let me know folks!!!

Is the "Quick and the Dead" Superbit any good?

I saw the Q&td awhile ago and really liked it, despite the fact that I was embarrased to say so!! Anybody have a chance to review the Superbit release of "Quick and the Dead"?\ What did you think of it?

    The Rock criterion DTS question

I had been reading for a while that many consider the Criterion Collections "The Rock" and its supposed poor DTS track to be one of the most dissapointing DTS tracks. I was able to spend a considerable amount of time auditioning it and found that the DTS track was a little bit warmer and lower...

    B&K AVR507 or Ref 50 & 125.7?

I would go with the Ref 50. I love mine, and it is easier to upgrade later.

Blue Man Group Audio DVD-A discontinued?

I just ordered mine off of Buy.com. They seem to have a good, easy to navigate DVD-a/SACD section. I paid 16.99 for the Blue Man. I have heard nothing but great things about this disc so I had to buy it. I also bought the Toys in the Attic by Aerosmith disc. My collection is small, but...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Brother Bear

I liked Brother Bear. It seemed to me though that as stated in here before, the transfer seems to be a little off par for a Disney release of late.

    Details: Matrix Revolutions (Merged)

I don't understand, if you guys were looking for Oscar material watch GWTW or Schindlers List or 10's of others. Revolutions could have been better, I agree, but damn, it is just a popcorn and a Coke movie (I say Coke, because I am a Coke guy). I would say it is a pretty good Popcorn and Coke...

    REM the hits DVD-A

I am new to the Hi Rez format and only own a few discs. I Purchased the REM greatest hits DVDA and was fairly impressed. The sound is great, I feel the surrounds could have been a little more spectacular, but overall, good. I will list my discs and give a grade beside it. I am looking to add...

    Details: Matrix Revolutions (Merged)

I just finally watched this movie, and wow, this disc definitley has some demo material. The bass is at every turn, the picture quality is killer, and the surround usage is engaging. I have not even watched this movie for the plot yet, just sitting back and listening to the sound!!!

I am looking for demo material, not mainstream stuff!

I finally watched Brother Bear and it had some very good enviroment surround. The menu page of disc one also is good for checking the levels of your speakers because the moose pan around to each speaker.

I am looking for demo material, not mainstream stuff!

Yeah, I absolutley love Band of Brothers, I think it has one on the best enviroment soundtracks availible. I have not tried Apollo 13, but that is one movie that I used to demo on an old system, long ago. Predator has pretty good surround use also. I agree with Apocalypse Now having a great...

I am looking for demo material, not mainstream stuff!

I appreciate all your reccomendations and will check them all out via netflix. Last night I watched Chocolate and it had great ambience surround. Doors closing, wind, and dogs barking in the town. My new B&K ref 50 really lets me hear alot that my Lexicon DC-1 did not. English Patient during...

Turning amps on makes my lights dim!

I have a B&K ref 50, an ATI 1505, an ATI 1502, and a SVS pb2+, not to mention video equiptment. When I turn it all on my lights dim considerably. Will a Richard Grey Power company or Monster power supply help with this. I heard they store power so it is like having a direct power feed right in...

I get my new B&K ref 50 today!

It is really cool, and the sound is liquid cool! I highly reccomend one. You should be able to pick one up for under 1500.00. That is a deal, especially when it is THX Ultra 2 certified. Unheard of in this price range.

Outlaw 950 vs. Pioneer Elite 45TX

Are you happy with your Outlaw, or are you just afraid you might be passing up a good deal? I would stick with Seperates. They are very flexible. The Outlaw product, although not THX certified, has a clean, tight sound. The Pioneer Elites I have owned and heard, seem to have an overly warm...

Das Boot: Original Uncut Version 3(?)-disc set - 6/1!

The Superbit version is good, but I don't think the lack of DTS on the uncut version should bother anyone. The DD and DTS versions on the Superbit are almost identical with each version sounding great. I imagine they are the same mix. I usually prefer DTS, but in this movie, it really does not...

I am looking for demo material, not mainstream stuff!

I am looking for demo material other than the typical LOTR's, Star Wars, IJ, or Pixar. I want a list of something different, some with bass for demo, some with good use of surrounds, what do you suggest? I also like old movies that are remasterd to sound better than ever. Here are a...

I get my new B&K ref 50 today!

I have mine up and calibrated. It sounds awesome. I watched biker boyz in DTS on it last night and the surrounds are so detailed and audible, without having to turn them beyond the calibration point. Yes, it has usb port upgradability. I love it, and DVDA and SACD is somthing to behold!!!!

Will you stick with hirez audio?

I think that the format is being marketed more to the manufacture's than to the consumer. Alot of new low end receivers now have hi rez capabilities and I think soon the consumer push may become stronger. Hi rez audio is the new thing, and I have not seen any new or up and coming surround sound...

The Final Countdown SE due 3/30

I found that the surround is used effectively on this disc, but it is a bit harsh at times, even with THX Ultra 2 engaged. They could have made it a little warmer.

I finally upgraded to DVDA, and I like it!

I am sorry, I meant to say the SACD of Dark Side, and no, I have not heard of any DVDA Pink Floyd albums. I would be in bliss to have The Wall on either SACD or DVDA. As per the DTS Dolby Digital versions Vs. SACD and DVDA versions, yes there is a difference to my ear. The DVDA and SACD...

I finally upgraded to DVDA, and I like it!

I finally upgraded to a BK ref 50 and Denon 2200 so I am DVDA capable. I bought Pink Floyd and Beach Boys Pet sounds. I am very impressed by the clarity. I did a comparison between the DTS and DVDA versions of Pet Sounds and found DVDA to be far more natural and realistic. Although in DTS you...

The Final Countdown SE due 3/30

Just picked this movie up, and I won't get to watch it until tomorrow, Damn!!! I love this flick and hope it is done well. Anybody had a chance to try out the DTS Vs. DD. Which was better?, any difference? I suspect it is the same mix and very little difference, but, I could be wrong. Well, I...

    oh Kenwood where art thou?

One more thing, I think that Kenwood should have taken Pioneers route by introducing a Higher end line like the Elites. I think Pioneer might be in the same boat if they did not put out the Elite line along with higher quality. I now think Elite puts out some excellent units, and that has kept...

    oh Kenwood where art thou?

I have noticed Kenwoods downward spiral over the last couple of years. My first DD, DTS receiver was a kenny. It had a fancy (Huge)interacting lcd remote. The unit sounded great though. I replaced it with a Pioneer Elite vsx 24tx and wished I hadn't. Now I am into separates and don't pay much...
