I did some research on these two and found that the "Powerbar" has switched outlets while the hts doesn't. I believe they both have the same filtering...IMPO...Monster is way over priced. I finally went with a Tripp Lite HT10DBS, it has great filtering(which I did notice on my tv sound) and has...
John: What did you use before to compare them too? I have some Belden coming in the mail but now I might change my mine to silver interconnects. I would use the triple braid stuff with Cardas grmo rcas.
Don't use wood screws! They break out the mdf even when they are predrilled! The best "screws" to use are gyproc(sheetrock)screws, they have a small body but with lots of grip. You'll need a 1/16 drill bit for these. I even use them to hold the driver into! BTW Use lots of glue!
If you use screws(which I recommend due to cost of buying all those clamps)use drywall screws about 1 1/2" long. Drill a pilot hole using 1/16". I've used both, wood and drywall, and the drywall didn't break out the mdf. I'm just finishing up my 95L vented shiva and I used the drywall with lots...
If you are going to use the router, get it at Sears and get their circle jig, its only $20. Also a note on mdf, it is heeaavvyy, so a small table saw would be hard to hold it on plus the fence won't open wide enough. Using the circular saw with a clamped on fence to the mdf works best. It takes...
I've got Athenas and the RX-V730, I really like the Yammy. When I bought it, I compared it to a Denon 1603 and liked the clearer highs of the Yammy. I have Athena AS-B2s all around except for the centre channel which is the Athena AS-C1. For a sub, I have a Shiva in a 54L sealed which is going...
I used poly on a few pieces of furniture until started using tung oil, which in my opinion, is the best to use!(used on about 30-40 pieces of furniture) I ran into the bad poly finish, so I sanded lightly with #0000(?)(the finest one anyways) steel wool and applied minwax and buffed before it...
Here are a couple of contenders thru Solen.ca based on Peerless xls subs. Peerless 10" Peerless 12" Check DIY forum for more facts on these subs... Dean
Awesome job on the cabinetry!:emoji_thumbsup: How did you get such a fine finish? How do the audax sound? Do they hold their own for bass extension? Is that their surround speaker design?

You could go full range using this:USB speakers Then you could make all the same speakers across the front. They are kinda like the Adire Audio's 10:1. If you e-mail him, he is very quick to respond and will answer all your questions.
Yes,that is what I mean.:) What kind of impedance would that kind of wiring be? 4 or 8 ohm or even 16 ohm? Seems like, the way you have it wired, that it would be 16 ohms... Dean
I'm in the long process of deciding on which kit to build to start my HT. I have built a Shiva 54l sealed which is going to be Darman clone later this summer! I have Athenas as my centre and surrounds and Sound Dynamics as my fronts, these will go to another system after I complete my "new"...
I'm planning my summer garage activities and I am also coming into some extra cash thru some other speakers I'm selling, so...:) Right now I have Athenas ASC-1 and ASB-2. I am making a single Elf 1.5 to hear what everyone raves about. Now, I would like to use the Spires but I am wondering if...
The enclosure for just about any sub built is approx. $75CAN...$200 for Tempest driver and another $210 for a 250w amp. Total $485CAN... Check out this site and scroll down until you see "Vented 214 liter kit". He shows the output of the Tempest. BTW The less costly Adire driver(Tempest or...
My 54l shiva sits right beside my tv and during action scenes, will actually shake the screen.:) I think putting a sub under the tv for a stand would/could cause the tv to over vibrate...
Anthony*B & Joe Hsu: Here is link where you can buy the whole kit for $135US. This includes 5 Elf 1.0 and mdf boxes. CSS Elf 1.0 - 5 speaker kit Then you could build the inexpensive TB sub also...;)
Just cut a hole where you want to mount it and modify the brace so the plate amp fits. I mounted mine on the upper back and the shiva on the lower front.
Yeah, I built mine last fall and now I want something louder in the low range(20hz-40hz), so I'm building the 95L vented!:) The 54L is...
