I just wanted to briefly share my experience with Gregg Loewen's television calibration service of my 65" Hitachi. I wont go into the nitty gritty details, but suffice to say he did an excellent job. First thing was to use the light meter to measure the "before" picture. Next step was...
My girlfriend has a Sony WEGA...24-27" or so. Sometimes if she accidentally turns off the cable, but not the TV, I can hear the squeal. The TV *looks* off because there's no signal, but I can always tell it's on from the squeal. I don't know if it's an age thing, but I can hear it and she can't...
...thank you HTF!!! Six months ago, I had a 36" directview TV, cheapy Sony receiver, and a no-name set of speakers I bought at the BX on base. Three months ago, I got divorced and my wife took it all. Yay! Two months ago, I found HTF, did HOURS of research, and now have: Hitachi...
I have the same problem. I just bought the Microsoft HD pack from Best Buy about a month ago. It's really dark...have to crank up the brightness and contrast to make it look decent again. Can anyone confirm that it's the pack? I'd like to be sure before I go spend a small mint on the Monster...
I think I saw a blurb on TechTV about it. All they really said was that it would retail for about $6,000 and they showed a picture of it. It has a clear stand so it kind of looks like it's hovering.
Okay, going to try the double bow-tie with amp next. If that doesn't work, I think I may officially throw in the towel. My next battle is trying to get DirecTV HD. The apartment complex has one satellite with 2 receivers (instead of the required 3 for HD) that feeds the whole complex, so...
I tried pointing the various antennas in different directions, moving across the room, and even taking them outside on the balcony and pointing around. According to titantv, I can get all of the stations I really want out of Sacramento using the lowest level antenna. Again, I think it's the...
My TV is a Hitachi 65XWX20B with built in receiver. I'm taking the Terk back tonight and I think I saw that Jensen at BestBuy, so I'll give that a whirl. I can get 2-4 digital stations (2 in Spanish), so I know the receiver is working. A little more information for those familiar with...
I recently purchased an HDTV w/tuner built in. I live in an apartment complex on the bottom floor, kind of surrounded by 3-story buildings. Not ideal for OTA reception. I bought this $40 antenna from Radio Shack and was able to pick up a couple of spanish channels, one SD Fox channel, and HD...
I'm sure you guys probably already know, but Cartoon Network is carrying Futurama now on Adult Swim Sunday nights. And they're getting Family Guy this month too! Woohoo!
...which would you choose? I'm still speaker shopping (seriously considering Dahlquist), but I figured I should at least LOOK at the option of having the little cube speakers w/sub. My apartment living room isn't that big and it's going to be a tight squeeze across the front wall with the TV...
If you have another component input on the TV, then I would suggest doing that. If you're all out of component inputs on the TV, the receiver works just as well. If you're all out of component inputs on both, then maybe a good switchbox for the PS2 and X-Box is in order. I'd run the digital...
Make sure you boot up your X-Box with no disc in it to get to the control panel. You need to set the video to "digital" and enable the modes that your television supports. Same for audio if you're using digital audio.
