I would not use the DIII for a center channel due to the reportedly weak mids. The Dayton 5-1/4" has much better mids and there is a design being worked on for a center channel called the "triune", search for it on the PE tech talk. If you have the dayton 6"ers allready, you could add a 5-1/4"...
Zoolander: Tons of parts are great, pretty much any scene with Mugatu (especially when he screams like a little girl when he getts egged and "OBEY MY DOG!"), Zoolanders "eugoogooly" Christmas Vacation: I agree its one of the best movies ever for hilarity. The hole thing, start to end. ("I...
Thanks I think the problem is with my DVD player. It is set to bitstream and I'm using the optical digital output. I couldn't find any mention of DTS anywhere on it or in any of the menus. I guess I'll have to upgrade to get DTS. Eric Y
Just recently I purchased a new receiver (Yamaha RX-V630) to replace my old prologic one. Last night I finally was able to get everything hooked up but I'm having a problem with the setup. I tried to watch LOTR Extended Version in DTS 6.1, but I could not get the reciever to detect DTS at all...
I'm looking to replace my old receiver with a dolby digital receiver and have up to $300 to get one. The only hitch is I need it to be stable into 4 ohms. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Eric
Wow, Thanks for the info. I e-mailed Danny this morning and he posted here on the thread and then e-mailed me to let me know he had posted. The kit sounds great, very complete. It's nice to see that GR-Research really provides a complete kit for the consumer. I can't believe that they even...
When I was checking ou the GR websight I noticed the new version AV-3 and I was wondering what the difference between it and the AV1+ is. It seems to use the exact same drivers as the AV1+. Does the crossover have to be designed differently for a floor stander vs. a stand mount? Or could I just...
Do the GR-Research Kits come with the crossovers preassembled? When looking at the retail cost of the drivers on the websight the total driver cost for a pair of A/V-1+ is $157.70. How much does the components for the crossover cost? When looking at the Audax kit the total price of the...
Dan, First, thanks for your input. Second, I really like the look of your GR M16 / Morel MDT-30s 2.5-Way design. How do you think it compares to the GR-Research A/V-3? While the designs I listed at the start of the thread are all stand mounts, I reall would like to make them as floor standers...
Yes My amp is stable at 4ohms. I would like to keep the budget for drivers and crossover to under $300 for the pair. I know that there are probably a lot of other kits out there in this price range, and if there are any others that are well regarded I would be willing to take a look at them too.
I have recently completed my first DIY project, a down firing 10" ported subwoofer. I am so pleased with the results that I now would like to move on to replace my old, and now blown, main channel speakers. As I've been searching for a kit to make the three I have narrowed it down to are...
