DSS vs. Time Warner Digital Cable

If you are building a house, RUN CABLE REGARDLESS. Your cabling contractor will do a better job than your cable operator will... most likely a much better job. Hints: Run lines EVERYWHERE you might even remotely think about placing a TV or PC. Think ahead, are you ever going to...

    Stupid Receiver Question...

And the 53" PT-53WX52 is 6" MORE TV and it's only a couple hundred more... I could quit eating lunch for a couple of weeks...

    Stupid Receiver Question...

DavidQC, glad you are enjoying it! I'm having trouble pulling the trigger. Everytime I go to look/listen/buy I get more confused. My son and I went shopping last week, we REALLY liked the Panasonic PT-47WX52 47" Widescreen TVs and found a good price locally. Now I've got to get the wife...

    Stupid Receiver Question...

But as long as the mains are set to small the low end will go to the sub?

    Stupid Receiver Question...

Does every A/V reciever use the sub when you are listening to 2 channel music? If not, which ones DO?

Porter Cable cordless drills any good.

I install broadband internet for a living. I don't imagine you can put a drill to a better test... my drill gets abused in every way you can imagine. I use a Dewalt. Everybody I work with uses a Dewalt. For now and again, around the house use just about anything is fine. Anything more, and I...

Where can I find a good 4-way analog cable TV Splitter

OK, I have a "standard issue" 4-way in hand. Bandwidth is 5-1000MHz... 1/2 the bandwidth of the Monster 4-way. I don't think this would present a problem in the digital realm though, as the "standard issue" 4-ways pass digital cable and high-speed data with no problems.

Where can I find a good 4-way analog cable TV Splitter

What is the db loss on the Monster Cable 4-way splitter? If you have a "standard issue" 3-way splitter in your system now you are probably dropping 4db on 1 leg and 8db on the other 2 legs. A "standard issue" 4-way will drop 8db on all 4 legs. If everything looks good to you now, just go to...

    BOSE apologist extravaganza

I had a friend way back in high school who had a pair of Bose 901s. Those were awesome speakers! I listened to the Bose 1-2-3 or 3-2-1 or whatever system a few days ago and I was thoroughly unimpressed. It sounded OK, but I didn't even hear a HINT of surround sound, nothing from the sides...

Sound and Cable Taken Care Of... One More Question?

I have decided on (and sold my wife on) everything except the TV... I was considering a Samsung 32" HDTV... but now I'm leaning toward a Panasonic 47WX42 Widescreen Rear Projection HDTV... I might be able to sell the wife on that too. This is my question, how "weird" will my picture be with...

DSS vs. Time Warner Digital Cable

I install broadband for a living right now, so maybe I can answer... The quality of cable tends to vary from neighborhood to neighborhood and even from tap to tap due to variations in signal strength. I've seen some incredible picture quality, but I've seen some that I would personally...

Total Newbie, Which Cables Will I Need?

Bob, I cannot begin to thank you enough! I am going to copy this thread and save it for future reference. I'm going to plan on using a whole weekend to get everything set up properly... While I have your attention, can I pick your brain one more time? Can you recommend a fairly affordable...

Total Newbie, Which Cables Will I Need?

I finally got the go-ahead from the wife to set up a home theater... and she is actually excited about it. I've got a little over 2000.00 total to spend, so it will be a modest setup compared to most I read about here, but it is a start. I've read and read here and I think I'm going with the...
