Just to warn you, once you know what it is, you'll start looking for it and seeing it constantly, especially living in Canada and loving (you better anyway!) hockey! Next time your watching the Canucks, look to the right side of the screen as the camera pans accross the ice (actually the left...
I just watched the movie with my Mirage OM-200 sub (sucessor to their older BPS-150). Holy cr*p did that opening scene scare me to death. I thought the loud bass everyone was referring to was the ship flying by. I was thinking "that wasn't too bad" when the darn thing landed and then exploded...
Brian, I think I responded to this similar question of yours in another thread. I too watch a lot of 4:3, and the wife solely watches 4:3 since she couldn't operate a VCR, let alone a DVD player! However, I wanted to go 16:9 since this is obviously where TV is heading, but was really afraid I...
Brian, I can gaurantee that you're wife will like the Toshiba stretch modes if that is the way you're heading. My wife was concerned when I told her we were getting a wide screen and tried to explain it to her, then when she saw cable on a Panasonic (I think it was in Full mode with no remote to...
I'm not a big fan of DPLII for stereo source material, I still prefer traditional 2 channel for stereo, although I'm warming to my sub, so maybe I'll say 2.1 only because I'm too lazy to change the settings on the receiver to turn the sub off. I think a lot of receivers still only carry 1...
Definately agree. You have to remember that CRT's have limited lives to begin with. Usually this isn't a huge problem since with normal use "limited life" normally means by the time it dies you're likely looking for a new set anyway. However, stores usually leave their sets on 24/7 (at least the...

Actually it was my brother that had the Yamaha, not myself and it was not a digital receiver so there's no comparison to his newer 3802. Both my brother and his cousin love their 3802's, I believe my cousin was originally looking at an Elite but decided to go with the 3802 since he didn't feel...
GabrielC: Understood. I didn't mean to insinuate that you were overexaggerating by any means. All I wanted to say is that I know Benny treats me and the people I've referred to him very well and we have established a good relationship. Through this relationship he gives me some of the best deals...
W.r.t. Audio Excellence, maybe I should have said "They didn't have anything I could afford" instead of anything I was interested in! I believe their lowest end receiver's are the Elites.
Kennedy Hifi - Wow, such negativity towards Benny at Kennedy Hifi, I must chime in. I deal with Benny for all my Hifi needs and have never had a problreem with him. My brother first starting dealing with him some 10 years ago or so and purchased his HT from him. Recently he went back and...
Had the hiss on my 50HDX82. As mentioned, quick call to Toshiba customer service, they acknoledged the problem and said Toshiba Japan had authorized a fix. 3 days later, tech came over, removed the sound board from the TV, soldered a new capacitator on it, and no more hiss. Regards.
Got mine fixed today as well. The Tech pulled what I would guess would be the sound board out (since it reminded me of the Soundblaster cards in a PC!), soldered something on to it (a "Capacitator" as he called it), then put the board back into the back of the TV. Voila! No hiss. Well, okay, 99%...
What do you mean by a "simple CAP"? I've got this problem as well and Toshiba of course said this is the first they heard of it and a speaker hiss is normal!
What exactly do you hear (or don't hear?) when you play this scene and the sub "bottoms out"? Not sure I want to try it with my Mirage OM-200 just yet since the sub is only around 2 weeks old! Is it possible to damage the sub? Steve
I've got the following: FRX7s FRX Rears OMC3 Center And just recently the brand spanking new Sub OM-200 (which I've got on loan from a local hifi dealer, litterally came out last week) Denon 2802 So far I love the speakers. I went with the OMC3 center over the FRx Center and it sounds...
I've got the 2802 with Mirage FRx7's and a Mirage OMC3 Center. I haven't set up the center yet since I have no TV (hopefully next week). The 7's sound pretty darn good, but can't say I've compared them to others since I got this as a wedding gift. However, up here in Canada you can pick up...
I did not know that was the audiophile view. Interesting, every dealer I go to touts these things as the best thing since sliced bread (but then again, they are salesmen!). They say that connections are much tighter and better with these. I am also having troubles putting the 12 gauge into my...
Does the quality of banana plugs make a big difference? I was thinking of getting some cheap gold plated plugs when I came accross some AR plugs at a store. However, they would run me CDN$20 + tax per speaker vs. cheaper plugs costing less than half as much. Thanks. Steve
Just got an email from Mirage which answered my own question! Want to get some opinions on the specs below from some of you experts out there if possible! The OM-200 replaces the BPS-150, here are the specs: Model OM-200 System type Omnipolar Subwoofer Amplifier type Discrete MOSFET...
Does anyone have any specs/news for this sub. Went to my dealer today and he told me he'd likely have it in next week. All he could tell me about it is that it had a 350 watt amp with peak power of 800 watts. These are replacing the BPS series. I'd imagine the 200 is the replacement for the...
The 675 is somewhere along the lines of $1500 and out of my price range. The best price I've gotten so far on the 650 was $850 + tax. All prices CDN dollars. Could get a Paradigm PW-2200 for slightly less, but it is positively huge and I don't think I could fit it in the family room without...
Does anyone have this sub or tested it? What are their thoughts on it's performance. The numbers posted in the brochure are great, but then, of course they are! It appears to have a better "wife-acceptance" factor than others! Thanks.
