    Car inspections and the CEL

Just pull the fuse out that powers all the dash gauges. I don't think they can fail the car for non working gauges, and it would keep the engine light from coming on. I did this on an old car of mine that the light would stay on, and it passed. As soon as I pulled it out of the station, I...

Switching sides and rear speakers on 3808ci

I figured out the problem of my reciever not letting me switch to PLIIx. I had it set to auto surround. After I removed that option, it opened up the possibility of PLIIx, with the various cinema, music, and game forms. I still haven't found a way to make the 5.1 configuration use the rear...

    Spanish on packaging

I was at Lowe's this weekend looking for a "room darkening" cellular shades, as opposed to "light filtering." All the cellular shades were placed on a rack, standing vertical, about 4 feet off the ground. All the labels were placed Spanish side out only. It was almost dangerous flipping through...

Switching sides and rear speakers on 3808ci

Chuck - Thanks for the diagrams. I'll take a look at them later when I have a few mintues to think about your solution. Jeff - I tried using the on-screen menu options every which way trying to get to PLIIx. But it would not give me the option under surround parameters. I don't...

Switching sides and rear speakers on 3808ci

What I would like to be able to do is choose when playing a 5.1 source whether the rears are used instead of the sides. If I go into the menu and turn off the sides, it assumes you don't have any rears. It seems there should be a way to use the rears in a 5.1 and not the sides without having to...

Switching sides and rear speakers on 3808ci

Hello - I just finished building and setting up my home theater room. I purchased a Denon 3808ci, and wired in all 7.1 speakers. The side surrounds are di-polars, which I thought would be a good choice for watching movies. However, when I was playing some older 5.1 concert DVD's, it was using...

    Spanish on packaging

I guess that's what bothers me the most about this whole thing. I get the impression that most of the spanish only speaking people don't even have a desire to learn english. I work with a small production crew that consists of spanish only speaking people. Some have been part of the group for...

    Spanish on packaging

I'm all for cultural diversity. I enjoy learning about and talking to those with different backgrounds. However, I am unhappy that it is no longer becoming an option. In my mind, the big question is how many people that are here leagally only speak spanish? My thoughts are most people legally...

    Spanish on packaging

Is anyone else starting to get annoyed with almost everything in stores now being labeled in Spanish as well as English? I know we don't have a "declared" national language here in the US, but it's getting irritating. I'm finding it more and more difficult to read packaging while in a store...

Anyone with a California King bed?

I've heard from a few bedding stores now that most people just use king size comforters. I guess I'll get one and try it.

Anyone with a California King bed?

Hello - I just purchased a california king mattress. I had to go on-line to find sheets, but there are plenty available. What I can't find is a good selection of california king comforters. I'm wondering if most people just use standard king comforters??? Anyone with a california king...

    Refinance day after closing

In case anyone was curious how this whole thing played out... I was in fact able to re-fi right after my initial closing. I closed on the house with a loan determined from my down payment, and 10 days later I closed on the re-fi, with the loan terms based on the appraisal. Doing so allowed me...

    Refinance day after closing

The two lenders I am considering have agreed to waive most of the closing costs on the re-fi since things like credit check, appraisal, ect. are still good from the purchase. So the closing costs are minimal. The purpose is to do the re-fi while they can still use the original appraisal...

    Refinance day after closing

I'm not sure the auction price is a true indicator of the actual "market value" of the homes. For one, I don't think an auction can be considered a fair market compared to how homes are traditionally sold. A house is usually listed and can remain for sale for months, advertised and recommended...

    Refinance day after closing

Hello - Has anyone here ever bought a house, then refinanced the day after closing? I purchased a townhome at an auction where the builder was selling off the remaining unsold units. I agreed to purchase it, but can only put about 3% down. My bank just appraised it $70k above what I paid...

    FS: Xbox 360

Hello. I have an Xobx 360 system that I have decided to sell since I've found I don't really use it that much. It's a core system, a wireless controller (In addition to the wired one it came with), a memory card, HD component cable, Call of Duty 2, Need for Speed, Project Gotham Racing, and...

Even the Brightest Fall for the Nigerian Scam

At the risk of being scrutinized, I wouldn't assume he is one of the "brightest" just because he's a doctor. I've met many doctors who could not find their way out of a box.

    Internet Explorer Problems

I'm at work, but for a very small company. I don't think we have any site blockers. I'm using XP professional, and we have a small network. The problem just started about a week ago. I would like to check my AOL mail or the news on yahoo, but the sites don't load. I should add that is...

    Internet Explorer Problems

I'm hoping this is a general enough question to permit posting in this area. Anyone have any ideas as to the cause of this problem: I have some pages that never load. www.aol.com for example. The explorer heading indicates it has found the page, and the progress bar is complete, but then it...

    My first internet scam....

I would have been nice to screw with this person a little, but I guess I just didn't think it was worth the time. I tried to get one of the pictures that was used in the add, but the add is no longer there. Imagine that. But for those who enjoy reading this sort of thing, here is how our last...

    My first internet scam....

She knows I work in a field with the Military. (I develop less lethal weapons.) I suggest that since I've never been to Africa, I will fly there to see her instead. I will use my contacts in the FBI to arrange my flight. We'll see how he / she responds.

    My first internet scam....

Joe, Thanks for the link. I'll submit something to them. I did just get off the phone with the local FBI branch. They're not interested in pursing anything. Frustrating, but I guess it's good they are looking after bigger things, huh? No wonder these people get away with this.

As a single guy, I've been a user of internet personals on and off for the last several years. So far, everything has worked out great. Until last night. I responded to an add, and several hours later I recieved an instant message and began talking to her. Several red flags went up right...

    Just Ordered a Few Aerobies

Yep! I lived in the country on 7 acres growing up. No neighbor kids to play with, so I'd throw it, walk to get it, then throw it back. Hmmm....looking back on it, catch with myself doesn't seem that fun anymore. But I was always amazed at how far it would go!

Do those fuel injector cleaning additives really work? And if so, which one?

This may stir some debate, but it was recommended to me a long time ago to just use a quart of automatic transmission fluid. It contains many of the same detergants that the specific cleaners have. I put a quart in a full tank maybe once a year with no problems. 295,000 miles, still going strong.

    Trying to buy first house

I'm in the same boat. Single, make a great salary, want to get into a house. Everything near work is huge money, out of my range. I went through a huge fit as well when I first starting looking. Everything seems expensive, but I suggest really going out and looking. Don't just look at the...

    Customer loyalty = discounts?

I do. I have several sensors on my car the I purchased from my own suppliers, rather then paying the huge markup they have. I should also mention, even though this company is small, it is not like other mom and pop stores that need high markups to survive. I can assure you, the people of this...
